I'm really surprised. My sense from discussions with my local hobby shop and online breakers was that UD would only be doing lower-end releases on e-pack.

But I guess UD has informed some that Ultimate Hockey will be issued via e-pack as well. I imagine this is going to really upset some people.

Even if that's the case - I doubt you'll see many Canadians taking part - unless you want to pay that extra percentage for Paypal or credit card on top of the exchange rate. It just doesn't make sense to pay that price unless you happen to have USD Paypal in your account.

Take UD2 when it goes to epack - if you're buying it based on the same price as UD1 - you're paying close to $15-20, after exchange, more for a box doing it that way than going to your LCS - at least based on the prices I'm paying. At the LCS - I can get the cards in hand right there and then and get to rip them myself.

So unless you're really jonesing for cards in the middle of the night - to me it doesn't make sense.

UD Ultimate is an opportunity - if retailers want it - to send a message to UD. Boycott the product in its entirety. UD cannot have it both ways, claiming to value the retailer while simultaneously acting to undermine the retail business.

It requires solidarity.

Bingo.

This e-Pack thing would have been more widely accepted if they made the e-Pack releases exclusive. This bypassing the retailers business isn't kosher.

Doesn't the whole E-Pack thing directly contradict the B&M policy they have in place to save the hobby shop?

This outta be interesting. How exactly do you do that with Ultimate? I get it with UD1/UD2. 2 of 10 HG are held back for ePack, but Ultimate? Come on. How would you feel if you knew the McDavid Shield was in ePack? What a joke

This does not make me happy at all, I am just going to buy singles now since I do not know what they held back for e-pack.

Just imagine if the McDavid Shield Auto is held back for the ePak!

Imagine the response from the customers breaking the physical release if they found out that the big hit was never even put into a physical box. That goes for just about any shield or 1/1 in Ultimate.

what the heck is an e-pack anyways? I have never even heard of such a thing.....

You buy a pack of digital cards from UD.
You then have to pay a fee for any of the cards if you want physical versions of them, to have them shipped to you.

Unreal....
I really don't like that concept of e-packs but worked quite well with UD1 and UD2 since it's just mostly bases and insert plus "cheap" one-colored jerseys for mostly from those series but with Ultimate Collection is a entirely different thing since you can hit some quite huge cards like NHL-shields and "sick" 1/1 patches plus RPA's etc.....

I bet that many will getting their economy killed if now McDavid gets like +30-50x different cards into 15-16 Ultimate Collection since it's TOO EASY to buying too much e-packs thorough computer without thinking a slightest bit before hitting on the buy button then.....too easy to getting addicted with e-packs.

What if UD promotes any equivalent to foil parallels from UD1+UD2 e-packs for Ultimate Collection, like exchange 2 or 3 copies of a /99 RPA of a certain player for a very limited foiled RPA so all those crazied McDavid or rookie collectors will going absolutely NUTS and taking loans after loans from their bank to getting enough of cases to finding enough of them for getting those foiled cards then!

Now shop owners don't have to hear every customer groan about how crap their pack of Ultimate was. Sorry to be negative, but Ultimate is/was probably the worst bust for awhile now.

While I don't think UD should be doing high end anything in ePack, I 100000% agree that Ultimate was the most cursed about release every year for what you pull from an average box.

Since even the base cards are numbered in a set like this, perhaps one might be able to come up with an estimate of how much was shipped to stores vs. how much was kept back for epack. It would be a lot easier than S1 and S2, in any case.

The ePack program has certainly killed any desire I have to participate in group breaks, as I'll be able to just buy an Eichel on eBay if I want one and pick up the rest of the YG on COMC for dirt cheap (I hope I'm wrong, actually, since this situation sucks for hobby shops). I've spent a grand total of $21 CAD on Series 2, versus last year's spending of $200-$300 on a significantly weaker release.

I never bothered much with Ultimate anyway, since it was such poor value for the cost, but to be honest, I'll probably try an ePack or two just to see if they load the early releases as it appeared they did with S1.

ePack needs to be scrapped and either totally overhauled so as not to interfere with hobby shops OR just forgotten entirely. I wouldn't mind seeing a COOPERATIVE effort with an online program that SUPPORTS the hobby network.

They shouldn't have teased out that the final product of the year would be an e-pack exclusive if that's not the case at all.
