Yep, it's that time of year again. It's time to dust off those want lists and get it done for 2021.

Have anything you'd like to acheive in 2021?

First, I want to go over my goals from Last Year's 2020 Thread:

1) Surpass 500 total cards for my Jhonas Enroth collection. I'm currently sitting at 477 cards in total (with duplicates included) and I hope to reach this milestone as soon as I can. The only rule I'd like to implement is that I'd like to try and reach this milestone without having to add too many of the same duplicate cards if I can help it down the stretch, as I don't like to add exact duplicates unless they are unique in some way (graded, signed, jersey numbered, etc). So we'll see how many new cards I'm able to add this year.

Done! Currently sitting a 543 cards as of this post and I'm quickly chasing down card #550 for my Jhonas Enroth card collection. Feels good man.

2) Get up to 20 cards for my Upper Deck 300 Win Club set. I have 16 right now, but I feel this one may be a little tough at the prices I'm looking for.

I have the 29th card incoming for my Upper Deck Win Club set. Closing in on 30 cards! Glad I was able to make progress with this set.

3) Have fun. It sounds cliche, but a hobby isn't a hobby unless there is some fun involved.

Fun was had! In addition to picking up some major cards for my collections, I also partnered up with another member here on H.I to start a Hockey Card Podcast & It's been a blast so far!

Now for my Goals for 2021....

1) Reach 600 total cards in my Jhonas Enroth collection (Duplicate cards are allowed).

Seeing as how Enroth's hockey card window has closed with his new 3-year contract back home in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL), this will be very difficult since 2020-21 will the very first season that my collection will go without any current-team hockey cards since the SHL hasn't had a licensed card manufacterer since 2015.

I'm pretty much shooting for the stars with this goal, but that's okay with me :D

2) Have a ton of fun! It's not a hobby unless it's fun... So I'm going to have fun with it.

What are your Hobby Resolutions / Goals for 2021?

Feel free to post them in this thread!

My 2020 goals:

For 2020:
-continue the hunt for nice Odjick, Habs and Nordiques, with a specific focus on licenced ITG cards It was a good year, Leaf had some cool cards for me
-continue moving the lower-end part of my Oilers PC to my tradelist Really did not as much as I expected
-reorganize some binders and move some star inserts from my PC to traders Started, I'll have to continue on this
-maybe sell some stuff Did a little, have way more to unload
-have fun with the discounted boxes coming in They were fun! Still have a few on my shelf.
-maybe try my luck on UD1 20-21 retail wax for a Lafreniere YG. If he's as good as we hear, UD1 20-21 will get expensive quickly Wasn't able to buy any megabox at the discounted price, I'll stay away

My 2021 goals:
-continue to pick nice cards for my Odjick collection
-start a small Alex Belzile PC (already got his YG! :)
-look for nice Habs and Nordiques cards, with a preference for old-school ITG
-downsize! I have so many traders and stuff sitting in boxes that I don't enjoy much, I'll continue to move cards in a move from quantity to quality

My 2020 goal was to put everything away, which I did. Then I spent way more than I ever imagined because with COVID going on, I couldn't do anything else.

So I'm hoping 2021 will see a return to my normal, smaller expenditures as I desperately hope I can go to concerts, go on vacation, and hit the casinos again.

Mike

My hobby goals for 2021 are:

1. Sell the remaining cards @ http://www.ebay.ca/usr/brownbullhead/. Spekaing of which, just throw me offers at this point - they need to go!

2. Acquire at least two or three of the below 2002-03 Parkhurst Retro p.c. cards for reasonable prices:
Code:
Back In Time BIT-05 Mario Lemieux 55-56 Parkhurst design [I][B]AUTO VERSION ##/10[/B][/I]
Back In Time BIT-06 Mario Lemieux 57-58 Parkhurst design [I][B]AUTO VERSION ##/10[/B][/I]
Back In Time BIT-07 Mario Lemieux 58-59 Parkhurst design [I][B]AUTO VERSION ##/10[/B][/I]
Back In Time BIT-13 Mario Lemieux 62-63 Parkhurst design [I][B]AUTO VERSION ##/10[/B][/I]

Magnificent Inserts MI-03 Mario Lemieux 2002 All-Star [I][B]AUTO VERSION ##/15[/B][/I]
Magnificent Inserts MI-05 Mario Lemieux Dual Jersey [I][B]AUTO VERSION #/5[/B][/I]
Magnificent Inserts MI-06 Mario Lemieux In The Numbers [I][B]AUTO VERSION #/5[/B][/I]
Magnificent Inserts MI-07 Mario Lemieux Emblem [I][B]AUTO VERSION #/5[/B][/I]
Magnificent Inserts MI-10 Mario Lemieux Complete Package [I][B]AUTO VERSION #/5[/B][/I]

Acquiring these cards gives me the "master set" excluding any 1/1 Vault or show-stamped cards.

Hope all you folks are doing well?! This year has been mondo bizarro!

Post my ongoing (mostly based on COMC and ePacks) Joel Ward collection here when I get my foot out of my ***.

EDIT: When it comes to another hobby, I'd like to catch Bruce Springsteen in a couple of new countries (i'm up to 14). Canada, Australia, Spain and Belgium are the regulars i'm missing. Seems unlikely we'll be getting any shows in the coming year though.

Purge all my non PC cards by either selling, trading or donating. Then really figuring out what to do with the multiple PC cards. May do the same as the non PC cards.

Since I live in NJ hockey is not a collectable card. I miss the Expo which I make a yearly and most time a bi-annual trip. If it does not happen in May it will most likely end my collecting urges.

Shipping cost has almost ended my trading with anyone outside of the US.

Wishing everyone a HAPPY and SAFE Holiday season.

Merry Xmas to all!

For 2020, I'd like to see if I can have fun collecting again. I do not have any disposable income for buying anymore unfortunately, but perhaps start to dabble more in trading? I've done pretty much only sales the last 6 months, but none of that money was able to go to the hobby. To be honest, I haven't really missed it all that much, either. I still like coming to the boards and seeing the joy of everyone else with the pieces they've been adding to their own collection. It's a bit refreshing to be able to just go through my email and delete the daily ebay emails. No worrying about getting this card or that card as soon as they come out. I have plenty going in my life to cause me stress without having to add a hobby to the mix!

I've done a bit more trading/selling this year, but not as much as I'd hoped. I did, however, start back up on something which I'd left a long, long time ago: Magic:The Gathering. Started playing the computer simulated version which is fun, even when I sometimes lose. The game has changed a ton since I last played 20 years ago. Picked up a few boxes and had a ton of fun learning about what the game has evolved in to.

Happy 2020 everyone!

Well, we all know how THAT turned out

For 2021, I need to continue to sell or trade off cards that aren't in my PCs. Probably need to cut a PC or 3 out, as I, as usual, have way too many and have gotten stretched out needlessly.

Let's hope for a happier, healthier 2021. Let's go Team Vaccine!

1) Move all non PC items...

2) Complete the 08-09 OPC Parallel sets (Never going to happen)

3) Surpass 2500 Luongo cards (could possibly be done)

1) Selling off a large bulk of my PC and non PC, and putting the money into my business.
When I have the money again, I will hopefully find replacements :)

2) Pick up the occasional real unique Oilers high-end card and also shiny sparkly low numbered cards of some of my favorite NHL players.

3) Continue finding unique cards for my Hemmer and Smyth projects, because I'm a hoarder.

4) I have stacks of unique cards to send to PSA...as soon as I have disposable funds to do that in a bulk order I will.

I’m looking to grade everything worth grading and then SELL. There will never be a better time to sell than next year. With the amount of outside money coming in, the amount of influencers pushing individual players and the hype and focus on sports because of Covid shutdowns of certain outlets, this will be the perfect storm. In a few years time, you’ll be able to buy everything back at deflated prices.

1) I'm sitting at 103/145 different Hockey Jambalaya's. I would like to get to 125 by the end of next year. Hopefully complete the 08-09 or 09-10 set in the process.
2) With everything I have incoming, I have 28 different Basketball Jambalaya's. I would like to get to 35.
3) Make it halfway through the 2020-21 Metal Universe Jambalaya Set.
4) Keep hunting jambalaya buybacks.
5) Jambalaya

2020 Goals:

Attend as many Tim Horton's trade nights as I can, highlight of my 2019 collecting year by far Obvious reasons why this didn't happen :( But I have seen an increase in adults collect for themselves/profit this year while at the same time a decrease in the number of kids collecting.......which is kinda of upsetting.

Keep picking away at my Bobby Ryan want list, 92 cards needed
Now at 1237 unique, NON 1/1 cards....wantlist is down to 73

Surpass 1200 total Gretzky cards, need 13
Currently at 1392 unique Gretzky cards.....great year for the side PC

Finish off my 80's OPC stickers collection, need 5 stickers to complete all 9 books
Done, in large part dure to the generosity of Trekrun here on HI....thanks Norm

Pick up a Nick Suzuki young guns
Bought one at a reasonable price....then hit one in a wal mart box 2 weeks later

Finish my Parkhrust gold Bobby Ryan, this should be done in 2019 but may take a bit longer. 1000 base cards what an awesome idea Upper Deck EDIT: DONE after spending 5 days to get the first 700 cards I had a guy send me 1300 bobby ryan base today so I now have two Ryan golds......this was awesome!!

2021 Goals:

Get the Bobby Ryan want list down to 50
Hit 1500 gretzky cards
Finish off my 79/80 OPC set (currently at 341/396) and my 1980 OPC baseball set (currently at 158/374)
Attend an expo......meaning there has to be one :)
Attend a tim hortons trade night...........meaning there has to be one :)

1. My first goal and I've been successful so far is to avoid the hype machine. I won't alter how I do things as its been consistent.
2. Supreme collection will be halted except for exceptional pieces. I refuse to pay good money for those cards when investment pieces are cheaper and better in the long run. Plus I ALWAY get my card I want one way or another at the price I want to pay
3. Expand my reach into other avenues. I always loved non sport and will continue to do so. I've always loved all the other sports.
4. Continue Youtubing with Jeremy and Carlos. I've fallen in love with it. I love to talk about the hobby but I don't need my own channel as long they are willing to have me. They've done a masterful job of inspiring me to be myself on camera.
5. I might start up a Friday night casual live chat on FB or YT or both. I will just hang, chat and look at cards I picked up that week. I might even offer some stuff for sale but that is low on the importance list.
6. Commission Fritz for a new business card and logo.
7. Continue to be kind to those around me. I see no value in being a dick and I refuse to live that way
8. Continue to expand my INSTA reach but doing it genuinely. Post when I want to post and spread the love that way
9. Continue to build friendships and enjoy my time with the hobby.
10. Virtual Expos, I love doing these!
11. Wendel Clark collection. I am extremely picky but i pick up a few odds and ends as I see fit.
12. PSA rainbow of Ziggy Palffy rookies. So far I have a PSA 4.. I might even create my own bloody registry.
13. I have to end on 13 as its my lucky number. I intend to start picking off my Brooklyn Dodgers PSA PC this year and maybe I might get a higher end Jackie RC for my collection.

#12 is my favorite.

I imagine getting something specifically graded a 2, 3, 4 & 5 is going to be challenging! Good luck haha. I love that idea.

My 2020 goal was simple:

Overall no set goals in sight so let’s say getting to 2500 unique Roy cards for my PC.

However I did not manage to hit the mark only at 2344 with about 10 sitting at COMC.

So I guess for 2021 it will be the same goal to hit 2500 unique Roy cards for the PC.

It's difficult for me to have any hobby goals during a time when I can not go to my LCS when that is essentially what my hobby depends on for additions. Over the past couple of months I have focused on sending care packages to friends and in turn been lucky enough to receive a couple of major adds to my PC in return so I see that continuing into next year.

There is also a small number of products that I am interested in next year b/c of price. Artifacts Golf is one since that is the first golf product in years and the checklist is pretty deep, but other than that the occasional hockey box is probably all I will be able to afford.

So, my main hobby goal next year is to stay positive during the pandemic and continue to send out love to my hobby pals who make this hobby worthwhile!!:)
