2008 Bowman Chrome Fukudome Error

Topps announces it inadvertently inserted a Bowman Chrome Kosuke Fukudome Autographed Rookie Card (which is not autographed) into packs of the recently-released 2008 Bowman Chrome Baseball. A total of 1900 copies were issued. Fukudome is not a subject on the Autographed Rookie Card checklist nor was he ever solicited as one.

Fukudome’s Rookie Card is featured on a Bowman Chrome Base Card and the following parallels: Refractor, X-Fractor (#’d to 250), Blue Refractor (#’d to 150), Gold Refractor (#’d to 50), Orange Refractor (#’d to 25), Red Refractor (#’d to 5) and Superfractor (1 of 1).

Kobe and LeBron Kiss Gold in China!

Upper Deck is proud to be able to deliver exciting trading cards of all of the stars of the US Olympic Men's Basketabll “Redeem Team” in the coming weeks. On September 2, collectors can tip off the trading card season with 2008-09 Upper Deck Series One Basketball. That release is followed by the 2008-09 MVP Basketball release on September 30 and the 2008-09 Hot Prospects Basketball release on October 14. Upper Deck will feature limited-edition insert cards of all of the “Redeem Team” players along with game-used and autograph cards of many of these stars including exclusive Upper Deck players Kobe Bryant and LeBron James.

Bowman Sterling NFL / Manning Brothers, Tom Brady & Adrian Peterson

As promised, 2008 Bowman Sterling Football will include at least one autographed card per mini-box, but not all boxes will contain a rookie autograph. While the majority of mini-boxes will deliver an autographed rookie card, there will be a number of high-profile veteran autograph subjects. The six subjects are Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Eli Manning, Adrian Peterson, Joseph Addai or Derek Anderson.

2008 Bowman Sterling Football is currently shipping and features 8 autographs and 12 relics per box! In addition, new to 2008 are Dual Autographed Patch Relics and the 1 per 4-box case Gold Refractor Dual Autograph cards.

Upper Deck Unveils Its Latest Work of Art

Last year, Upper Deck’s NBA Chronology brand provided a shot in the arm to the NBA marketplace and it returns this season packing even more of a punch. It Really Is A Piece Of History

It’s no secret that Upper Deck is the leader when it comes to producing innovative trading cards. Whether it was the first autograph cards or the first game-used jersey cards inserted in packs, the company has led the industry with creative ideas to bring collectors closer to the game. Now Upper Deck is bringing collectors closer to history with the company’s new “Hair Cuts” insert set.

Upper Deck began sending these cards to eager collectors last week and they have generated tremendous interest amongst collectors. Only weeks prior, Upper Deck also created a “Hair Cuts” insert in 2008 SP Legendary Cuts Baseball that included not only an encapsulated piece of hair, but also an authentic signature from such legendary personalities as George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.

The X-Files: I Want to Believe Cards from Inkworks

Twentieth Century Fox Licensing & Merchandising and Inkworks today announced the release of a new premium trading card collection based on the upcoming movie THE X-FILES: I WANT TO BELIEVE, along with a small subset of cards from fan favorite episodes of the legendary television series upon which the movie is based.

The 72-card series will feature the franchise's iconic lead characters Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, as well as the new film's action and intrigue. In addition to the base set, collectors can also find several levels of randomly-inserted bonus cards.

Donruss Halts Production to Include new Favre Jets Cards

Donruss today announced that a Brett Favre New York Jets trading card will appear in the company’s Playoff Absolute Memorabilia product, scheduled to reach retail stores the first week of September – some 20-days after Favre was dealt from the Packers to the NY Jets. The Favre card features a photo of the legendary signal-caller holding up his #4 NY Jets jersey at Thursday’s press conference. Donruss dispatched a photographer to the event with the express purpose of creating this special card.

Since the production for Playoff Absolute Memorabilia was in its final stages, the Favre card will be exclusively available in retail boxes which are sold at such leading retailers as Target, Wal-Mart, and other local supermarkets and drug stores. The boxes being shipped to hobby shops have already been packed out and are ready for distribution.

Brett Favre makes Jets debut in Upper Deck products

In 2008 NFL Icons, which is set to release later this month, Upper Deck has inserted limited-edition exchange cards for “Immortal Letterman” inserts. These manufactured letter patches will spell out “Broadway Brett” if collectors are able to put together the entire set. Since Favre was best known as a Packer, Upper Deck will still produce cards of him dawning Green Bay’s colors. The majority of those cards will focus on the many achievements he had as a member of the Packers.

“Members of the media have speculated for weeks if a move like this would tarnish Favre’s legacy, but for collectors, it only helps add to it,” said Brandon Miller, Upper Deck’s Football brand manager. “Favre moving to a major market like New York should create a spike in collecting for his cards. It’s not like Emmitt Smith going from the Cowboys to the Cardinals. This is a positive change for collectors and we are pleased to be able to share cards of Favre as a Jet so soon.”

Crisp Photography and Top Stars Fuel 2008 Upper Deck Football

Upper Deck collected photos of many of the top rookies recently at the annual NFL Rookie Premiere Photo Shoot, but the company also collected autographs of these players for its “Same Day Signatures” insert. For the first time, collectors can find hard-signed autograph cards of top rookie prospects in their professional uniforms with this set. Another new insert sure to draw interest from collectors is the “Masterpieces Preview” collection. Upper Deck’s 2008 Masterpieces release is set to launch in late October, but collectors can now get an early look at some of these unique artist proofs of gridiron action.

The 2008 Upper Deck Football product carries a suggested retail price of $4.99 per 20-card pack with 16 packs per box. The product is in stores now.
