Are u related to anyone in the NHL?

No one who played in the NHL, but my namesake has alot of NHL background. My great uncle George Tackaberry was a shoemaker who developed the boot to create modern day hockey skates along with the CCM blades. Tacks were pretty much the standard in hockey skates for many decades and are still a famous sport association.

I remember my grandmother telling us a few years ago that we were somehow related to someone with the last name MacArthur (that's her maiden name) but I'm not sure if its Clarke MacArthur or someone ells

Cool topic.

Brad Moran (The Calgary Hitman guy) married my second cousin.

Also, my cousin's grandpa was the Leafs backup for a couple seasons in the 50s..

Tacks are the best, had my pair for the past 10 years and still going strong

My wife's great uncle (or something like that)is Al Arbour (grandmothers brother or cousin) also she's related to a HOF in MLB as well as Carl Hubell was her great uncle. She has some other distant relations that are former NHLers as well but I can't remember off hand.

On my side my dad played minor league base ball until he got hurt and lost his shot. He did play over thirty league with a lot of retires pros though.

No relations that I'm aware of, but my mom and her cousins all lived on the North Shore in MA, and spent their weekends following the Bruins players in the 60's and 70's on the golf course when they played. Quite a few lived in their neighborhood, and Bobby Orr and Derek Sanderson would go in and out of all the local shops they frequented. Kinda cool.

When I was a kid, we would play road hockey on the streets of the Navy base PMQs.

We would always complain when this one kid's mom would make us let him play. We didn't want him to becuase he was only about 6 years old, and we were the 'big kids.' Plus, the little kid always seemed to have a runny nose/cold, so no one wnated to get anywhere near him.

Anyway, once his mom made us let him play, we would all (including his brother) go out of our way to make him leave. Slash him, trip him, generally make him cry. He would run away crying, and his mom would give us crap, and life would go on. This repeated daily.

Well, we must have toughened the little guy up, because Joe Reekie went on the have a fairly good career as a stay-at home, tough defenseman who did not take any crap from anyone.

No relations, but the closest is that i had interview with former Rangers Jarkko Immonen for student newspaper couple years ago.

My neighbours used to be a billet for the Knights. Fred Brathwaite and I used to shoot pucks at each other in their driveway (I was a goalie too). Also went to high school with a bunch of Knights. Nash, Perry, Methot, Syvret, Hunter etc. Still keep in touch with Nash when he's in town.

Cheers,

Matt

just a couple, I went to high school with Nathan Horton although he is a couple years younger than me (in my brothers classes), also I work with Matt Johnson's younger brother every weekend. Ray Emery is an uncle to one of the kid's in my class at the school I teach at, as well my father has met Marty McSorley and had his stanley cup ring on.

I'm showing how old I am! Gord LaBossiere is a cousin. Played for the Kings and many junior teams in the 1960's and early 1970's. Have not seen him for over 20 years now!

This one's turned from a "who are you related to?" thread to a 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon style thread. :D

Though the stories are cool. Randy bullying Joe Reekie in particular made me laugh.

There's not too many of us brown folk in the NHL, so unless Robin Bawa is some distant relative, I got nobody. The only notable family sports tie I have is in golf.

My second cousin is Mike Keenan. I have only met him a few times. I think he gets a bad rap from everyone in the hockey world because he is such a prick to his players. Which you need to do at times. The times I have met him he was very nice to talk to.

my dad and ray scapinello are second cousins. I know him well, his son is one of my best friends.
A co-worker here is sisters in law with Scott Stevens (I just learnt that, I need to find a way to get an auto or something cool)
My wife used to play basketball with Rich Peverly all the time as they walked hom from school together all the time. He's now married to a good friend of mines little sister

Dave Debol of Hartford Whalers fame 1981 to 1983 is my cousin. Craig Wolanin of Avs/Nords fame is a former teammates cousin. Went to his Stanley Cup party in 1996.

Not hockey related...but my dad says that we are cousins with Italian soccer player Simone Perrotta.

He has played on the Italian national team for the world cup the past few years.
