Let's face it, the WWE has become very stale and predictable in the last few months. The only show I watch with any regularity is NXT, because the lack of quality wrestlers on the main roster (mainly due to injury, and Vince's fascination with overly muscled, aggressive pylons) is becoming a bit much. I don't have the hate on for Reigns the way the IWC does, (although he does bore me, and the predictability in his matches is a turn off) and I certainly don't understand what the love affair/fascination is with Dean Ambrose (I much preferred his Shield persona...now he just looks like a somebody who should have a trucker cap on his head and a toothpick in his mouth). The only wrestlers that I enjoy watching are Cesaro (injured), Orton (injured), Bryan (retired), Banks (only now coming into the persona that made her the best wrestler on either roster, main or NXT), Kalisto, Neville (once you can get past his god awful entrance) and Lesnar (part timer).

But even as lacking as the product has become lately, I absolutely LOST. MY. S*** when "Here Comes the Money" hit last night......partially because it was completely unexpected, and partially because I still have such fond memories of the Attitude Era. Shane-o Mac wasn't necessarily a great wrestler, but man he would give it his all during a match, much like Mankind. I certainly don't expect that Taker/Shane will actually happen at Wrestlemania, but that spot last night was bang on, with a touch of reality tossed into the mix to make it compelling. I fully expect that there will be some swerve thrown into the mix before the match actually happens, likely a wrestler will fight in his place. Or being it is a HIAC match with no DQ, he may receive interference assistance from an actual wrestler, likely an older one from the AE. My dream scenario would be the long awaited return of Kurt Angle, but perhaps this would be the reason The Rock is scheduled to make an appearance at 'Mania? Or maybe Austin, since it is his hometown?

Thoughts?

0% chance Angle comes back. They've tried in the past but there is no way he gets medical clearance. As for thoughts on it, I am not very high on this years Wrestlemania at all. Matches announced seem predictable in Reigns v HHH or they will change before the event, Shane vs Taker. Based on the current card/speculation it is looking like Brock vs Ambrose is going to be the best match of the night. I really hope I am wrong and there are some great matches.

I know the odds that he would come back and actually wrestle a match are slim to none, but it would be cool if he just came back long enough to interfere and cost 'Taker the match. Nobody actually thinks that Shane would ever beat 'Taker clean, and WWE creative would be foolish to script it that way, but given that the streak is no longer intact, and 'Taker is reportedly quite the company man, he might be willing to take a pin from Shane, should there be outside interference, which is legal in a HIAC match. Can you imagine the pop if his music hit, and he came down and slapped the Angle lock on 'Taker?

As I said, I truly doubt it would happen, but it would be quite the event if it did. It would probably end up one of those "Where were you when..." events.

Angle would be cool if he actually had a reason to show up and help Shane.

Forget seeing Angle at Wrestlemania, go see him live in person April 9th Halifax Forum

It is HOF induction weekend too meaning there is always some way to get the inductees involved... maybe Sting is the unexpected twist you're looking for...

I am pretty sure Sting is fully retired at this point. He won't ever see doctors clearance again, since he was near paralyzed in his last match.

Have always had huge respect for Shane's in-ring effort and toughness. However, I really hope we don't see him as 'Taker's opponent at WM.

Great discussion. Is anyone else unimpressed with the Mania card so far? At this rate, they won't come close to selling out. I agree that the Undertaker vs Shane match is a joke. Look how far wrestling has come when the marque match looks to be Lesnar vs Ambrose. I understand that many stars are hurt, but I am to the point of having a few NXT matches thrown in to get the crowd fired up.

how about shane beating the undertaker clean only to have cena come back from injury and interfere and take shane out to save the authority and become the new "heel"

That honestly didn't stop WWE from using Bret Hart as an on-roster "wrestler" 5 years ago.

As entertaining as it will be, I can't see Shane going over Taker whether clean or not. You can't put Shane in the same elite status as Brock Lesnar considering he hasn't wrestled in like 47 years.

Sorry this is the smark in me talking here ;)

Wrestlemania has always been great for surprise returns and such, so what better than Wrestlemania to bring back the the Mean Street posse.

They may take WWE up on an offer... From Wiki:

"All three members have since retired from wrestling, as Gas now works for W.B. Mason, an office supply company, Rodney owns his own landscape management company in Glen Ridge, New Jersey and Abs works in his family's car repair shop."

I'm thinking Shane goes over SOMEHOW. I'm hoping Balor Club/Bulletproof makes their debut and this would catapult them through the roof if they got involved.

Yes! They can set up to the inevitable Finn Balor/Undertaker blowoff at Wrestlemania 33. That show will have to be extended to 5 hours to provide enough time for Taker and Balor to make their entrances :D

Okay, so they just announced Lynch/Banks/Charlotte in a triple threat for the title. My goodness. That has classic written all over it.

Lot of work to stack up to some of the classic Wrestlemania triple threats over time (ie. Hardyz/Dudleys/E&C or Jericho/Angle/Beno...uh..not gonna work here anymore! or Michaels/HHH/Beno...uh..not gonna work here anymore!) but those 3 can definitely get there.
