    2023 UD The Cup Website

UD persists with the idea that publishing a library of the patches will negatively affect sales if top patches are pulled. "Oh, the best ones are pulled, why bother?" I have been unable to disabuse them of this notion.

    What are people paying

In talking to a couple of local shops: the wholesale price hasn't gone up, though none of them expect that there will be any reorders at reasonable prices.

Does any body know of Vintage Dealers from Expo?

Plenty of vintage hockey dealers. There are some vintage baseball dealers, though I'm not as familiar there.

Marner’s hobby with a new team

I punted most of my Marner stuff last fall, except for a few key rookies. I fully expected Treliving to trade him for magic beans by the trade deadline. I expect his stuff will be down by at least half for the short term. If he plays well in Vegas, I can see his rookies regaining value.

Thirded. Best available resource right now.

Previews: Red Wings/Blackhawks/Rangers 100th Centennial Sets

I'd be giving both of those boxed sets a miss, holding out for the hobby releases.

    Whatever happened to Logopatchcards?

Yeah. At the time he'd bought a "sealed" case of 05-6 Cup, which turned out to have been a repack. He proceeded to post up a storm about it here. Bruce asked him to stop. After being ignored, Bruce shut down the posts. Logopatch then accused Bruce of hiding the truth or some similarly...

Upper Deck introduces new authentication and security features with Rookie Patch Autographs series

I'd suggest that it's also scalable: something that they could do for EVERY patch card they produce. And wouldn't require slabbing.

Upper Deck introduces new authentication and security features with Rookie Patch Autographs series

I would like to see perhaps a move away from the slab. That QR code could be printed on the card back, then the chain of accountability is integral to the card. Or, perhaps a picture of the card front is printed in miniature onto the card back. That second one may be more complex than is...

Upper Deck introduces new authentication and security features with Rookie Patch Autographs series

Yes, it does. There is at least a tenuous chain of connection back to whichever player...as opposed to a Wal-Mart.

Post an Autograph and critique it

While there's lots here with which I agree, I think it's simpler than that: these guys literally do not know the difference. Mervyn Cheechoo - yes, Jonathan's dad - used to frequent my table at Expo, and we'd ALWAYS bust his chops about Jon's auto. "He says "Dad, that's my signature." And I'd...

Upper Deck introduces new authentication and security features with Rookie Patch Autographs series

I see the biggest potential concern going forward being preservation of that chain of accountability after grading.
