While working on my 1994-95 Electric Ice set, I recently stumbled across a few jumbo versions of some of the cards. I always knew there was a Gretzky jumbo, but I recently obtained a Roenick version. I also have a Forsberg, Bure and Arnott on the way and have seen Yzerman and Mogilny.

First off, here is the difference between the two cards.

In addition to the size, the actual Electric Ice card is very sparkly, whereas the jumbo version has no shine to it. I wouldn't even call it gold foil. It's more like gold print.

When searching for some more of these, I came across an eBay auction that was selling this product.

It seems similar to how you would buy a tin these days that also has jumbo cards. I asked the seller of the Forsberg/Bure/Arnott trio that I purchased and he said they were promos, and that someone who owned a hobby store in the 90s might know.

My problem is that I can't find a checklist for these cards anywhere. Does anyone know how they were distributed, and more importantly, where one can find a checklist?

Thank you!

I recently saw a Kariya in someone's online collection.

Adding that, I believe the checklist would consist at least of the following:
1 - Gretzky
26 - Chelios
90 - Selanne
93 - Jagr
235 - Kariya
245 - Forsberg
271 - Renberg
300 - Yzerman
305 - Arnott
322 - Roenick
334 - Mogilny
364 - Neely
404 - Sakic
469 - Bure

The number is what is on the back and corresponds to the number of the card from the 1994-95 Upper Deck base set, but obviously the jumbo set isn't going to consist of 500 cards. I do think there are probably a few more that were made, so if anyone has any information I would still love to know!

I realize there isn't much interest in these, but for completeness' sake and for player collectors, I wanted to share this update. I recently stumbled across a number of these on eBay.

It's basically the jumbo card I've been looking for, packaged with 2 packs of 1994-95 Upper Deck series 2. Unfortunately the seller took the majority of them down once they realized free shipping wasn't working in their favor for these, but I was able to get 3 and add Jagr, Chelios, Selanne and Sakic to the overall checklist.

However, that still leaves one unknown! As the package states, there are 15 of these, but doesn't provide a list and I've come across 14.

This is interesting stuff. I've never known where you get the jumbos from. Only knew some existed. I bought a lot of them years ago but I think none are the missing one of the 15 of your list.

Sakic was not a jumbo. At that time he was a fast-rising star, but not upper echelon yet.

With no checklist to work off of, I've had to go by what I've seen for sale. I've seen the Sakic listed twice, the one that was still packaged and recently taken down, and another that was sold last June for around $35.

The listing on the single was "1994-95 Upper Deck Electric Ice Oversize 3.5x5 Joe Sakic". I cannot find sales history for that far back. If I'm able to obtain a copy then I will share it here.

I wish you good luck in your searches! You've done a great job in piecing things together so far, and I know it will be a very satisfying collection for you when you complete it. I often have 'oddball' pieces like these in my collection, and once I get part of the information on it, it's hard to stop until the full picture becomes clear.

Very interesting! I also didn't have a clue where these came from. Got the Mogilny:

Wonder if these 1995-96 versions have a similar story?

Thank you to everyone who has given this thread their time. I managed to work out a deal with the eBay seller from my 4/17 post to get the 5 known jumbos that I still needed. These were Chelios, Jagr, Kariya, Renberg and Sakic.

The 15th one is still a mystery! Please leave a message if you have any information :)

As for the other 14, I've scanned them all to share here along with their regular sized Elected Ice counterparts for scale.
