Hey gang,

I'm just curious...is there any good reason that the YG Exclusives from 04-05 still book so bloody high, or is it just a case of Beckett not updating their price guides after initial sales?

I remembered I had a couple YG HGs from that year's Young Guns set and before I make them available, need to understand better what the market for them is. Normally I've operated on the mentality that an HG might be worth trade value for about 10x book of its related Exclusive, but that theory would go out the window given that most of the Exclusives book for $100...including the non hockey guys like Foster Hewitt. Are they that hard to find or something?

I would guess it's a faulty multiplier somewhere getting the price of the Exclusive high and that they are going

Base (Base x10 for Exclusive)
"Fake" YG (YG x10 for Exclusive) rather than x4 or whatever would allow both the Exclusive and the Exclusive YG to be about the same.

While I doubt I could ever explain how Beckett comes up with some of their BVs, I can at least tell you that the YG Exclsuives /25 from 2004-05 rarely ever pop up. I've been working on the set (along with the base set 1-180 Exclusives /50) for several years and I only have 18 of the 30 YG Exclusives. So they're definitely scarce. Can't help you with the HGs though, I don't chase those.

They're pretty hard to find, certainly, but not especially more so than many other parallel sets.

It's a faulty multiplier.

I have had 4-5 in my possession over the years as the YG HG is my all time favorite card. I found that they sold absolutely no different than regular YG HG's.... the start RC's sold for big, where as the non stars sold for 20-30ish... for the 04-05 HG's... mine sold for pretty cheap as the RC class was abysmal. Which ones do you have?

Mike Keenan and Gary Thorne...I can't see that Thorne moving very quickly, but can see a bit of interest generating over Keenan, if only because it's Mike Keenan
