I would like to try something new on Hobby Insider Forum.

So if you have any questions about 2013-14 Heroes and Prospects 10th Anniversary, I will be here to answer them and provide updated information on the product.

If this works out well, I will try to do the same for our future releases; StickWork, In The Game-Used, Between The Pipes, Lord Stanley's Mug and 2014 Draft Prospects.

Brian Price.

Yes thanks Brian.
On a side note, and I hope I am not out of line by asking this Brian, but since you have the rights to the CHL and such, has there ever been any thought to selling your product at the arenas??.

I ask because, we have no hobby shop in Sarnia, but I bet if the cards were available at the arena (either through the Sting themselves.... or through the hobby shop), I'm sure the kids would buy them at the arenas and we can maybe get a younger generation involved.

Just a thought...

You are not out of line at all.

About six or seven years ago we had a product called Heroes and Prospects Arena Version.

It had the same base cards in it but less "hits" and so it sold for less money and allowed us to give the teams the margins they requested.

We stopped making the product because believe it or not of the 80 AHL and CHL teams, only 16 carried the product. It was a disaster. Baron Bedesky who worked with us at the time and neither of us could believe the lack of support. So we stopped doing it.

Any team that wants to carry this product can certainly open up a dealer direct account with us.

I may be a little ahead of myself here, but will there be an update set this year? The reason I ask, is Cole Ully from the Kamloops Blazers (Dallas Stars draftee) should be considered. I know Tim Bozon was included in your base set as a Blazer, but he was traded to Kootenay a while ago now (and yes I realize you have to compose your list a ways in advance). Thanks!

There will not be an Update Set.

The Update Set was replaced last year with our 2013 Draft Prospect product which was very popular. We are going to follow that route again this year with our 2014 Draft Prospect product.

You have two mark Pysyk complete logos on the checklist. From what I've seen you have only used a team Orr jersey and subway super series jersey for his mem in your products. Is that where his completes come from? Also why did you opt to hold them for now instead of releasing them earlier?

With the Marc Andre Fleury and Ondrej Pavelec 10th anniversary gu cards....are they pictured in there Cape Breton Eagles jersey? Or NHL team jersey

Each year prior to this 10th Anniversary edition we had a finite number of Complete Logos in the product. Because of the special year, we decided to put in many more than normal.

Brian will you ever be going back or look to adding the AHL back in. Really miss it and living in the states and not following the CHL as closely the H&P has many players that my kids and myself are not as familiar with and my kids loved getting the base cards signed. Just curious

Dr. Price,

H&P looks pretty amazing this year! Looking forward to adding 2 Mark Pysyk Complete Logo's into the PC! Do you know if Mark Pysyk will be featured on the card? or will it be name only like the Stamkos one you showed in your blog post?

Cheers,

Kory

No we will not be going back and working with the AHL in the future.

After nine years in partnership with the AHL, the NHLPA put pressure on the PHPA during the lockout year to not allow us to use NHL players who were going to play in the AHL during the lockout.

We told the PHPA that if the players played in the AHL, we should be able to use them on trading cards. This was a problem for the NHLPA and for that reason they convinced the PHPA to give them a license. That's right the NHLPA has the PHPA license for trading cards.

So that's why there was no licensed product last year for the AHL and probably won't be one this year.

We decided to concentrate our efforts on the CHL.

That's the edited version, there were month's of negotiations before we decided that we would no longer produce AHL trading cards but I felt strongly that as the AHL licensee we deserved to make AHL trading cards of players who were going to play in the league during the lockout and the NHLPA put pressure on the PHPA to not allow us to do so.

cheeseheadman:

Since MacKinnon is in the NHL we would need a separate agreement with him in order to put him into our products.

Our agreement with him expired October 1st and we were not able to renew that agreement.

This situation is different from player to player.

Hope this answers your question.
