I know, I know, it's on hockeybuzz but I was bored... :D

So, I'm hoping to see Khabibulin & Seabrook land in Ottawa while watching Gerber, Neil & Vermette head out (and possibly Meszaros). The 3rd party is rumored to be LA (where Gerber would land).

I, for one would LOVE this deal. An above average goalie in Khabby (which we haven't had other than Dominik for one season) and a probable franchise D-man in Seabrook for an overrated & overpaid goalie, an unhappy and inconsistent Vermette and a no longer needed Neil (replaced by Ruutu). Meszaros might be the key to making this work. Seabrook would be an amazing upgrade to him. It would leave us a tad thin at forward for now but I'm sure Murray could fill in the spots with some young talent in Bingo (Zubov, Nikulin) and perhaps a UFA or two (I'd love to see Isbister here)

I'll await the response from my 2 friends...

mmm, i could definately go for that, i would love to see khabby in ottawa, seabrook too. id hate to see vermette go, but oh well. and i can live with neil and meszaros being gone

I already learned my lesson about hockeybuzz (Jason Williams)...

seems a little lopsided to me though...

It all depends on $$$ and what LA is throwing in. Khabby is a huge Cap hit at 7mil, I think. LA needs a goalie for a year and they have a ton of room under their cap so Gerber fits no problem. Vermette and Neil are two guys who would fit in well in Chicago and Meszaros would take Seabrook's spot. If all LA had to throw in is a 3rd round pick, Chicago would get a pretty good deal themselves...

Ton of room under the cap? heck they almost need to double their salaires just to hit the floor...never mind the cap...

pfffffftttttt (*wiping soda off of my monitor*)........absolutely the funniest thing (and most true) I've heard in the last few weeks!!!!!

Wouldn't mind the deal.....we definately need some help in the goalie dept....although having a coach might help too.......

;) :kings:

Deano can do something right out of this.

1. SIGN TED NOLAN!
2. Trade for khabby not gerber!
3. Take seabrook too
4. Jump off a bridge and name me the GM ;)

anyway about the deal. Kinda sad to see the kings pull out. gerber would have been fire to me but khabby would be better. plus khabby can eat the cap like we need him to

LA has enough money to eat Havlats albatross of a salary, and have space leftover for Khabby.

Exactly, but something tells me they are trying to compete with Atlanta and Toronto for the Tavares lottery.

Unfortunately, it's looking more and more like Chicago, who was headed in the right direction, screwed the pooch big time and counted their chickens before they hatched on this one. They are going to get stuck with two "starting" goaltenders who eat up a huge chunk of their cap, and who more then likely will be upset splitting time, or taking a back seat to the other one. Not what the Hawks need with all the youngsters they have. It's the last thing they need, but I can't see any other teams saving their bacon on this one by taking Khabibulin's contract without sending a ton of wasted money back Chicago's way.

Just so we don't dump this all on "hockeybuzz", I just heard it on the radio this morning as well. The rumour has Gerber and Meszaros heading to LA, Khabby and either Seabrook or Barker coming to Ottawa and it is uncertain what Chicago would get. I would think at least Neil would be going their way and possibly someone like O'Sullivan from LA? Not sure but it's brewing...

they were talking about Kopitar this morning...

... where do you think they got this from? Apparently Don Brennan reads hockeybuzz too... :owned:

Not happening. No way.

POST #1,000! YAY!

I'm not sure LA would be crazy enough to move Kopitar but I'll go out on a limb and say that Khabby is a Sen before the start of training camp. I am hoping he comes with Seabrook but Barker may be the guy Tallon decides to move. If it is indeed Seabrook who lands in Ottawa, I would think that this puts our boys right back on top of the Eastern Conference. Come on Bryan, work your magic and gets this sucker done!!!

They are talking about the rumour BECAUSE it comes from hockeybuzz.

Anyways, Kevi Lee just reported Barker was just traded for Neil and Nikulin apparently. No confirmation from the big boys (i.e. TSN) just yet.
