Verified Trader,
While I don't collect much these days, I still try to make an effort to get to the Expo to see people that I know. To add to the enjoyment, I bring my daughter Evelyn along as she is a big hockey fan (and player) and always enjoys checking out the new products in the display cases, as well as participating in the corporate sections, with whatever they might have going on. I also had my stepson Max with me, who does not like sports, but manages to find enough non-sport stuff to keep him occupied.
We arrived at about 4pm, and after Evelyn put on her "Expo wear" (her team jersey from the Orangeville Flyers, we were off. Right off the bat, have to thank Frank (Scooby) for passing Evelyn a Toronto Maple Leafs flashing lapel pin as we stopped at Steve Singers booth - that made her day right there.
We were trying to head down to the ITG land area, but kept running into folks, which was good for me, but Evelyn wanted to check out what they had going on. While they didn't have the shoot to win game again, we enjoyed looking at the Junior hockey jersey display Dr. Price had put up - some of those jerseys were amazing. The Rick Nash jersey looked like he got run over by the zamboni. There was a lot of folks in the area breaking for the redemptions - ITG always puts forth their best effort for the Expo.
We then headed over to the UD Booth to try our hand at a wrapper redemption. We lined up at 4:30 for the 5pm break, and were about 10th in line. When our time came, we quickly brok our box of UD1 (a little sparse, but it had a Martin Brodeur 300 wins jersey in it and a Chet Pickard Canvas Young Gun), but the big surprise was the Priority Signing - Evelyn picked out a Bobby Orr /35, which elicited a few oohs and aahs from her.
It was then back to ITG for the Gives a sheet draws (amazing sheets of BTP Masked Men sets, base sets, and others) - we didn't win, but it was fun to watch the folks that did. The sheets were awesome. We then watched a few rounds of Deal or No Deal (Evelyn lamented that we never have the right Birthdays to get picked)
- always a fun time at the ITG booth.
I then spent a bit of time looking for some cards for a small project of mine. I didn't have much luck, but the kids managed to find things up their alley, and spent all of their money... come to think of it, kids never have a problem spending their money. Max spent his on LOTR cards and some old Marvel Godzilla comics.
The day ended off with the UD raffle. As they were pulling tickets, reading peoples names, I saw my daughter getting more and more excited. Somehow, the very last draw, the UD guys read out "Evelyn Jones", to which my daughter yelled out with great enthusiasm and surprise, "That's me!" Couldn't have scripted it better. The guys took a picture of her with her Chris Kreider puck.

All in all, a great day. It was great seeing everyone, and thanks to all of you that made the day for my kids - the smiles on their faces at the end of the day were priceless.
