The Great Zo
Verified Trader,
Mail Post #16 on the year is, by number of pictures, my biggest yet. I have 20 pictures this time, so I would strongly suggest waiting at the top for a minute to let the page totally load! I have been really moving through some high volumes of cards recently, which has necessitated many of these large and frequent mail posts.
Onward!
-------------------------------------------------------
05-06 Ultra Rookie Uniformity Wojtek Wolski
This card came in from Shawn (ZP9). Thanks very much, and glad to help out with your Jason Blake collection!
-------------------------------------------------------
87-88 O-Pee-Chee Ron Hextall RC
This card came in from Dave Rempel. It's a great addition towards the 80's arm of my Best-RC collection.
-------------------------------------------------------
98-99 Black Diamond Double Mats Sundin (/2000)
01-02 Upper Deck Exclusives Curtis Joseph (/100)
01-02 Upper Deck Exclusives Kamil Piros (/50)
05-06 UD Artifacts Frozen Artifacts Copper Bernie Geoffrion (/125)
These four came in from Blair (GoLeafsGo23). The Sundin is on hold for Chris (hockeyguy2006) for his continuing efforts towards the 98-99 Black Diamond Double and Triple sets. The rest are not yet spoken for. Thanks for another great trade, Blair!
-------------------------------------------------------
NOTE: From this point onward, I will be highlighting a very large package of parallels and inserts I received from Juha Kolunaho (Colan33). Juha made me an extremely generous trade offer and sent me a bunch of cards that I am very happy to own, and will certainly put to use in my trading. I will go on with the cards here, and then leave a final note at the end.

02-03 Crown Royale (/2299):
Martin Gerber RC, Lasse Pirjeta RC, Ivan Majesky RC
Stephane Veilleux RC, Kyle Wanvig

The biggest part of the lot from Juha was in the form of 02-03 Crown Royale. Here's the first batch here.

03-04 Topps O-Pee-Chee Blue Dany Heatley (/500)
05-06 Black Diamond Jeff Woywitka RC (Triple Diamond)
Here's the end of the lot, finishing out with a RC from this year.
Juha, thank you VERY much for sending along this lot! It took me hours to go through, photograph, and prepare for this mail post. However, it was (as always) a lot of fun, and I certainly appreciate it greatly.
-------------------------------------------------------
00-01 Private Stock Silver Sergei Samsonov (/120)
81-82 O-Pee-Chee Larry Murphy RC
04-05 Upper Deck Hardware Heroes Andrew Raycroft (Calder)
As if that last huge batch of cards wasn't fun enough, here's some more good news: all three of these cards go towards my specific collections! The Murphy is another good RC for the Best-RC collection. The Raycroft goes towards my set of 04-05 Upper Deck Hardware Heroes. I am only missing three more!
The Samsonov has an interesting story behind it. Tim (TurcoCollector3) pointed a copy of the card out to me on Ebay, which I quickly scooped up for a very reasonable BIN. However, a few days later, the seller refunded my money and said he could not find the card. What kind of idiot ebays a card he doesn't own?
Later that day, I did some searching on Google, and found another copy of this card. The rest is history, as I was able to pick it up quite easily in trade here. It's another tough parallel off the Samsonov wantlist!
This batch of three cards came from Rene Hatlas.
-------------------------------------------------------
96-97 Metal Universe Jeremy Roenick
02-03 Topps Chrome Maxim Afinogenov
02-03 Private Stock Reserve Blue (/499):
Paul Kariya, Arturs Irbe
Kristian Huselius, Andrew Brunette
Mike Dunham, Tony Amonte
02-03 UD Artistic Impressions Great Depictions Steve Yzerman
This batch of cards is actually the "extras" end of a trade with Wes (WesM44). To quote his little note to me, "Some shiny extras for you too Andy. Think of it as karma!"
Or, I can just think of it as shiny things
-------------------------------------------------------
04-05 Upper Deck Swatch of Six Pavel Datsyuk
Here's the card that the deal with wes was centered around. This is a neat jersey and the first one from this set I've ever owned. Thank you very much for the trade, Wes!
Perhaps the best news is that the 05-06 Upper Deck YG of Rostislav Olesz I sent him is going to kill his Series 1 set!
-------------------------------------------------------
97-98 Black Diamond Premium Cut Double Brian Leetch
98-99 Black Diamond Triple Marty Reasoner (/1000)
98-99 Black Diamond Triple Mike Van Ryn (/1000)
99-00 Topps Chrome Refractor Ryan Smyth
99-00 Pacific Omega John Grahame RC / Jay Henderson RC
00-01 Pacific Ice Blue Stan Drulia (/45)
05-06 UD Victory Gold Milan Kraft (14/100)
Here's the first batch of cards I received from C.J. (LecavalierFan). The two Black Diamond Triples are, of course, on hold for Chris. I do collect Stan Drulia, and this is the second Ice Blue of his I've been able to find. Also of note is that the Milan Kraft Victory Gold is numbered to his jersey number.
But there was one more card in the package...
-------------------------------------------------------
00-01 Titanium Alexander Kharitonov RC (/99) (NICE!!!)
Few sets have given me more headaches, in terms of my Best-RC collection, than this one. 00-01 is the final season in which I still claim to be going for "completion", yet I know I have no shot at the higher-end Titanium Best-RCs. Still, I have kept them on the wantlist... perhaps as a form of optimism.
There's a total of 23 Best-RCs in the set. One of which is solidified in my player collection (Dieter Kochan), and I already own two others (Eric Landry and Jeff Cowan). Kharitonov is my fourth, leaving 19 to go. However, I like to look at my goals a little more realistically than that. I'll say that after Kharitonov, there are only two more that I'm serious about finding: Jani Hurme and Ruslan Fedotenko. Those three go towards specific ends of my Best-RC collection -- Fedotenko and Kharitonov for the Lightning end, and Hurme for the Vipers end.
To top it off, this is the first time since August of 2002 that I have added a Titanium /99 RC to my collection! That's over three and a half years!
C.J., thank you very much for the trade. Rest assured that this card's got a good permanent home!
-------------------------------------------------------
News and notes:
**Upper Deck Series 2 has been released. There will be much praise for anyone who can lead me to a Weekes Press Plate, or Victory Update Black!
**As promised, I have prepared the recording for my 2nd-place winning entry in the 2006 Central Michigan University Honors Program Talent Show! Here is the link to the song: Andy Hatzos - Cheyenne Anthem. The song is Cheyenne Anthem, written by Kerry Livgren, performed by Kansas on their 1976 album Leftoverture. I arranged it by ear to piano/vocals. The quality of the recording isn't great, nor is the quality of some of the high vocals (HAHA), but I'm proud of it nontheless.
**I just received word today from home that a very large package from Tim (TurcoCollector3) has arrived in! Tim, I'll do the formal confirmation and stuff once I'm home on April 7... for now, just know that it's in and I'll be anxious to rip it open! For everyone else, just know that there's going to be a lot of quantity, AND quality, with this package.
**To those in the know -- are there going to be any "cut" versions of the Bruins Boston Globe sheets? All the ones I've seen so far are uncut, which I think is a pretty bad idea. I'm on the lookout for Sheet 1, which has Sergei Samsonov and Tim Thomas. Of course, it's that new Thomas card that ruined my 100% again! Curse you Upper Deck!
That'll be it. Thanks everyone!
