Hey guys, I recently picked up an auto card lot, and this Wayne Gretzky signature was included in it. No certification on it, but it looks legit to me. From my understanding the card is from his restaurant in Toronto? I’m just wondering if there is any knowledge on this card and if it’s worth anything? It’s available for trade or sale if so. Thanks in advance!

Hey Jayden,

It looks nice, but unfortunately appears to be one of his autopen autographs (a card obtained through the mail to be signed by his autograph machine). It just looks a little too 'perfect'. With no certificate, I'm not putting any money down on it. It's still kinda something cool to have.

My first thought looking at it was that it's a Gretz autopen...

If you look at the points where the pen would go on the page or come off of it, you'll see a small well of ink or a dark spot. That's from when the pen drops the marker on to the sheet and it wells up before it gets started, or it holds it there before it lifts up.

Exactly there is ink pressure points at the beginning and ends of the letters where the pen just sat there or there is extra force. Not real

Just in case there was any doubt, if you google Gretzky autopen, you'll see signatures that look exactly like the one on the restaurant card.

The stop, start blotches are usually prevalent but there are two other things I have seen on almost every Gretzky autopen:

The little "tailhook" to the left at the end of the "Y" in "Gretzky" combined with the "X" looking "TZ" in "Gretzky".

Those have always been big clues to me.
