Upstanding Member,
(Ooooooh, that was so forced - it's actually painful. I'm sorry)
Hey folks,
Haven't been posting much in the last while. A few things in the hobby are frustrating me and I haven't had the same zest and zeal for cards as I have had previously. I'm still enjoying the hobby, but I'm not chasing every Linden card anymore and I'm certainly waiting longer to pull the trigger on cards than I did before. I don't need the first copy, the second copy ... the ninth copy or the tenth copy but I'll get the card when it comes down into the price I'm comfortable with. Having to face the Linden tax every once in awhile when a seller thinks the won the lottery with a Linden does get frustrating. I have finally learnt hobby patience.
One of biggest things keeping my level of enjoyment up is the great crew who attend the Bonsor shows. In addition to the locals, I'm blessed to have a number of other HI members who I chat with via FBMessanger, Whatsapp, call or text if needed.
Years ago, one of those members made me spend more money on cards than I wanted to when I won or he was willing to pay more than I was so I would have to wait for the next copy to show up. :|
Instead of keeping us as nemesi, he reached out and we have since become great collecting friends for the last (almost two decades?!?) and his last gift blew me away.
In addition to the jersey number Linden card that was previously in his collection, Brett (bamlinden) included a very nice note that I will be keeping. This post is about Brett's kindness but it also applies to many other HI members who make the hobby more enjoyable for me and others. The gesture doesn't have to be huge but these simple acts of kindness really do ripple through and can be contagious.
Brett - thank you very much! You're kindness is VERY much appreciated and makes me want to pass that kindness on. You make the hobby so much more enjoyable and I'm grateful for your kindness and friendship. The hobby is lucky to have you in it. Thank you.
For everyone else - thanks for taking the time to read.
Kevin
