From last May until tonight, the wife's been telling me how she's ordered my birthday gift, and feels bad about it, but it couldn't be here in time for May 30th, and that it's coming freight - it'd take about 10 weeks to get here. She even had some guy where she works call last week to confirm "the package" would be on an American West flight from CA, landing in Boston on August 14.
She refused to give any hints, saying only that I'd want to take a few days, even a week off, to have time to play with my gift. I teased her, telling her I hoped she poked holes in the box, so that Jessica Simpson would survive the long flight!

Well, about 4 hours ago, I drove with her into Logan Airport in Boston to pick up my "gift." Completely unbeknownst to me, she flew my mom home from AZ to spend the week with us... her first time home since my dad passed away last October. I've been out there to see her a couple of times, but this was a very pleasant surprise indeed, and as good a reason as any to take the better part of next week off! One of the better gifts I've received in a while!!!
