Hey y'all,

I was just wondering what are some of your favorite books that are either hockey or card related? I'm not much of a reader, but I'm going to Chicago this weekend and can use something for the flight haha.

Patrick O'Sullivan just came out with a book that came out yesterday so I (of course) had to order it. It won't be here in time, but I'm very interested in reading it and just thought I would leave this here in case anyone else is interested too.

Looking forward to your responses!

Hockey Card Stories was a fun read. I'm reading Mint Condition now. That's more baseball related though but still a fun read. I don't collect baseball but I like it because it gives a nice history of the hobby.

Card Sharks by Pete Williams. Published 1995. ISBN 0-02-629061-8. "How Upper Deck turned a child's hobby into a high-stakes, billion dollar business."

Dave.

The Boys Of Winter by Wayne Coffey, one of the best books I've ever read.

Yes, yes, and yes again. This is one of the best ones I've read as well. I highly recommend it.

Also - not hockey/card related but if you're into sports and ever watched SportsCenter, I would recommend giving "Everyday I Fight" which is the book on Stuart Scott and his life battling cancer...it's definitely a good one as well.

Also, I haven't had a chance to read my copy yet, but I've been told "A Matter of Inches" from Clint Malarchuk is a good one

Mint Condition was amazing. I thought it was very well written!

Yep - I read this on one business trip to Indianapolis. Had me bawling on the airplane a number of times. Fantastic book - and very well crafted.

Totally agree.

I also loved Home Ice and Open Ice both by Jack Falla.

Gonna chime in and agree with this one. Best. Hockey. Book. Ever.

And "The Game" by Ken Dryden wasn't too shabby either.

Anchorboy by Jay Onrait from TSN was an awesome read

While I enjoyed the book somewhat, it definitely made me into an Onrait hater - the guy is a jerk, who takes his job, colleagues and friends for granted.

Couldn't finish The Game by Dryden... he is one of the most boring people I've ever read or listened to.

Card sharks is good - a little dated, but you get to see how things exploded with the introduction of Upper Deck to the scene.

I enjoyed the book "Hockey Dad" by Bob McKenzie, but it's more about Minor Hockey and the craziness that goes along with that...

Forgive my biasy, but Triumph's "100 Things" series has been incredible to read. I've already gone through the Red Wings, Blackhawks and Bruins books. loved them.

Just finished reading Jean Beliveau's "My Life in Hockey." It was really good. Also echo the comments about Card Sharks--it was a good read. I wasn't too impressed with Hockey Card Stories.
