Sorry for posting this here, didnt know where it fitted.

What is the best way to ship sets ?

I have a 200 base + 50 YG to ship

The Yg will be in top loads, will the set get dammaged in a card box in another big box ?

Should i put decoys on top of the base in the card box to prevent movement ?

If you have shipped set whit succes your help is appreciated.

I have gotten sets in the typical cardboard boxes with tissue paper at the start and end and stuffed tight on top to prevent movement. Cards arrived in A-1 shape!!

Have also had card come in binder pages wrapped with bubble wrap and styrofoam peanuts, came perfect as well.

Best way to do it (in my experience) is to use a small box - as small as you can in order to save on shipping and prevent movement - with packing paper or bubble wrap around the box/plastic holder to prevent movement and damage.

I have shipped many sets in the past with Canada post. If you put the cards in a regular card box, even if you protect the sides, there is the chance that your box will get dented and damage several corners of the cards inside. Thanks to a recent experience of this and a forgiving member, I will never again ship cards in this method.

Canada post charges you s/h based on weight and size. Here are a few helpful hints:
Weight Hints:
  1. If the weight is between 250 g - 500 g you can increase weight until you get to 500 g without changing price
  2. If the weight is between 500 g-750 kg you can increase the weight to 750 kg without changing the price
  3. For 750 g and heavier, you can always round up to the nearest 500 g without changing the price

Size hints:
  1. For the most part, parcel size doesn't matter when shipping in canada as long as the girth (area around) + the length is less than 3 m
  2. for shipping in the US, size DOES matter. BUT! As long as the width + length + height of the package is less than 90 cm, you can ship via small parcel. If your package is bigger than that, you will see a big jump in price.

The best way to ship a set is as follows. 200 cards is about 300 g, so at best, for your 250 cards with top loaders, we should be looking at the 500-750 g box size. Put them all in a card box and include whatever packaing (like tissues or newspaper) you want to cushion them. Then, put that box into a slightly larger one. In the larger box, make sure that there are newspapers foam peanuts, whatever to insulate the inner box. There should be 1-2 cm minimum between the inner and outer box. This will ensure that your set will reach the destination safely EVERY time, not just some of the time.

Be sure to weigh your box to get below one of the cutoff points. I always use foam peanuts, but crumpled newspapers may be more weight efficient.

...

One last thing, if you are selling sets on eBay, the best s/h rate for US and Canada that I have ever found has been to use the eBay flat box rate:
http://pages.ebay.ca/flatratebox/index.html

You get a big box perfect to hold up to three or four 200 ct card boxes and still have room for packaging. The flat rate is better than most ever other rate available except for local & light shipments.

Hope that this helps. If you want to clarify anything I wrote about, please feel free to pm me.

Cheers,
reoddai
