I've been patiently waiting and am curious if anyone else is still waiting for their BGS orders submitted at the Spring Expo to be returned?

They quoted 3 months when I submitted. Now it's well over 4 months and soon closing in on 5 months.

I did not have any submissions but I do know that BGS had a HUGE backlog which ultimately made them now change their pricing.

5day submission is $30 a card
10day is no longer available, instead its now 20day @$20 a card

We sent ours in with Grosnor at Summit Show in Edmonton and had them back in July.

I know a few guys who have sent with LCS in the last 2 months and they too have had them come back. One fellow had mentioned the price is higher but quicker turnaround.
I think a month tops.

I would definitely check in on it.

Thanks everyone. I have gone from slightly annoyed with the turnaround time to very concerned about the whereabouts of my cards. Sent an email off to Chris Belbeck (the Grosnor employee who accepted my submission). Hopefully good news coming today.

First BGS submission and quite possibly my last.

I got mine 8 weeks after. Have you called Grosnor???

Same here and the price per card that was offered by Grosnor at Expo has now changed.

EXPO
$16.00CDN for 3 month service and now told it could take 5 months!
$22.00CDN for 4 - 5 weeks and like Ryan said it took 8 weeks

NOW
$16.00CDN still but could take 5 months
$40.00CDN (NEW) and you get your cards in 4 - 5 weeks)
That's the base rate.

The last time I used Beckett was through comc.com. I paid for a 6 week guaranteed service. They were received back 14 weeks later. Contacted both comc and Beckett about the "guarantee" I paid for and neither was willing to do anything about it, they didn't even apologize.

Thanks everyone for your comments and experiences.

Here is the reply I received from Chris at Grosnor:

I received notification from beckett that your cards are in the batch that just shipped to us.

We should have these in next week, once we have checked in that batch we will start to ship.

With this said you could expect your cards in the next 2-2 weeks sir.

If you have any more questions please give me a call or email.

As for others getting their cards back those must have been with the express service levels.

This is why I won't get my store involved. I did it one time, it was only eight weeks and people were calling me a week later wondering where their cards were. For a profit of around $3-4 a card, no thanks.

I was talking with a customer yesterday who submitted cards in JANUARY and still does not have them back yet.

I love how the solution to their backlog is to increase the price.

Law of supply and demand I guess...the demand is up, so their pricing model increases because people seem willing to pay more. As the demand decreases, they will probably offer more "specials" like they used to or adjust their price model accordingly. It seems like at this point most of their monthly specials are geared towards vintage cards. That is Ok. This is the first year I didn't submit anything. The prices and the turnaround time along with the lack of grading specials have discouraged me from doing so.

Update on my BGS order - I submitted 20 cards of a very obscure player. For all but 3 of those 20 cards is my copy the only card listed in the Pop Report. So I was easily able to find out my grading results before the package is returned to me. I think I should have waited for the thrill of finding out as I was opening the package, but overall very happy with the grades.

Best grade is a BGS 10 with subgrades of 3 10's and a single 9.5, so close to a black label Pristine!

Besides that, there are six 9's, one 8.5, and the balance are 9.5.

You've defined my point by stating that you are discouraged by the poor turnaround time and prices. If they want to discourage people from grading, this is the way to do it. The actual solution would be to hire more graders, but then again, Beckett hasn't really ever been known to make consecutive smart decisions.

I submitted 12 cards thru my LCS / Grosnor at the end of June, prior to the July CANAM long weekends and my LCS now informs me that he has received a BGS report on the cards submitted.
Hopefully here in the next week or so :veryhappy: !

I reconfirmed yesterday that another local collector who goes to Edmonton on a regular basis drops his cards at West's.

He pays $40.00 per card.

Turn around time 4 weeks maybe 5.

Has been doing since mid July.

They are trying to hire. Its hard to find graders.
