I'll be in Calgary at the end of September for a conference and I'm looking for help finding THE spots for all things collectibles. I already know about Maple Leaf Sports, so I'll be visiting them for sure, but need help finding the best:

Comic Book Shops
Vintage Toy Spots (I collect the original Super Powers line)
Sports Cards
Modern Toy Spots
Wrestling Stuff

Any help and recommendations would be appreciated!

Anytime I go to Calgary, my main stops for sports cards are always Maple Leaf Sports Cards and Eastridge Sports Cards. Their prices and selections of both singles and wax from all sports are top of the game in "Cowtown".

Then, if I have time, I might occasionally hit up Collectors Books and Cards, as well as Andy's Sports Cards. They have some unique stuff, and are nice enough stores to visit. There are a couple of other shops as well, but they have a long way to go to catch up to those four.

DATES:
Friday/Saturday/Sunday September 29th, 30th and October 1st, 2023

TIMES:
Friday - vendor set up 8am - 1pm, VIP 2pm-3pm, Open Access 3pm - 8pm
Saturday - vendor restock 8am - 9:30am, VIP 9:30-10am, Open Access 10am - 6pm
Sunday - vendor restock 8am - 9:30am, VIP 9:30-10am, Open Access 10am - 4pm

LOCATION:
Parkland Pavilion - Westerner Park, Red Deer AB. Westerner Park is the entertainment area attached to our large arena. We are an easy 1.5 hour drive straight up or straight down the QEII Highway and Westerner park is located on the south end of Red Deer with easy access from all directions.

VENUE:
Parkland Pavilion is a 37,400 sq foot venue that can accommodate up to 150 vendor booths and 2000+ people. There is ample free parking, overhead doors and loading docks for easy access and an in-venue concession that will provide a full menu. The built-in stage will be used as a private vendor-only area set up with tables and chairs. This space will allow folks a place to eat, rest or make deals outside of your booth space for privacy. There are plenty of restaurants and hotels located within minutes of the venue.

Phoenix Comics on 17th Ave. I think there is another location in the North on 16th Avenue. Those guys have been around forever and should have lots of neat stuff.

For card shops - Maple Leaf, Eastridge and Andy's.

I don't collect comics but I am familiar with both shops:
Comic Traders, Lake Bonavista Promenade, 755 Lake Bonavista Dr SE, Calgary, AB T2J 0N3
Purple Gorilla Comics, Crossroads Farmers Market, 1235 26 Ave SE, Calgary, AB T2G 1R7

Where in the Toronto area are you? I grew up in Mimico.
Michael.

Thanks for the responses, everyone!

Michael, I am just east of where you grew up. I live near High Park. My wife is a teacher at John English in Mimico!

That's pretty close! We used to ride our bikes to High Park all the time. My younger brothers were born at St.Joseph's.
I lived right on Lakeshore Blvd near Mimico Avenue. I went to John English... but in the 60's when it was still in the old building across the street from now. Went to Mimico High School '69-'74.
If you want to grab a coffee while you're here, just get in touch with me via PM.
Michael.
