Just noticed on of a yet another things that don't make sense in Beckett Magazine.
UD Artifacts Latendresse RC $30
UD Artifacts Statsny RC $25

Upper Deck YG RC Latendresse $25
Upper Deck YG RC Statsny $40

Both Statsny(and yes, I mean Paul) and Latendresse came out in series 1 Upper Deck, assumingly to the same print run, so why the difference from one product to the next.

I could show you DOZENS of instances where this applies.

I'm not sure if its still like this, but in the Kovachuk/Datsyuk RC year, Kovalchuk was valued higher then Datsyuk in every.single.set. EXCEPT one. I believe it was BAP memorabilia or parkhurst or something like that where they were even. Does that make any sense?

I like to collect HOFer autos and plenty of times Howe/Orr/Gretz and even Roy flip flop with whos more (Gretz usually the most but sometimes Orr is even with him) even when the print runs are the same.

Just another reason why its a guide and should be taken as such

LOL, point taken, but as a "guide" shouldnt it make sense. I'd hate to pay for a "guided" tour, and the guy just took us in circles. Or worse, we zig zag around all over the place, and any info he gives about the sites is unclear or incorrect......lol

Do you buy Beckett magazine? If you answered yes to that, then thats EXACTLY what you are doing lol ;)

Hah, you guys are funnee. :)

I like the guide as a trade referrence only. For circumstances like some of you listed common sense has to come into play then. Like the Messier e-volve,...wow, gimme a break. NO ONE IS PAYING MORE FOR THE HIGHER PRINT RUN AUTO WHEN THEY CAN GET AUTO/JERSEY CHEAPER. Just oversights. Like about 6 quarterly's ago when like all late 90's sets didn't list any Superstars like Gretzky, Roy or Lemieux.

:p

I think the common misconception is that BHC "sets" the prices. Al and the gang will swear on their mothers that they only "report" the prices they see.

There was a writeup one time about the e-volve autos & jersey autos and the reason for the higher price on the non jersey autos were that set builders were going after the auto set but not driving the prices of the jersey/autos.

Wow, what a bunch o' crap back in the day, eh. Unreal,...that certainly doesn't make any sense (well, the concept does, but the circumstances around such varying differences between the two is astonishing,...especially the print runs). I just find that to be a lame answer to the 'Do you guys ever do any research?' question.

Yabba dabba doo. :D

Quote of the year...........:)

Now you understand why most of us here not only set the hockey market prices, we use our own pricing.

I would disregard Beckett's mag for the most part, as it is, well, akin to their message boards, a totally disorganized and chaotic clusterf**k.
