So, looking for suggestions on what to do. I have quite a massive card in very good condition that I want to sell, but would like to get it graded (PSA - thinking it should be minimum 7) before that. I'd send it to PSA myself, but it seems quite tricky, especially living outside N-A.

Any consigners that do the heavy lifting, grading so to speak?

The card BTW.

Should I erase the pencil text on the back BTW?

I’d ask someone in the US that you trust to do some of the legwork (you can decide on compensation).

Get it graded and use an auction house that specializes in American cultural items like this. DON’T erase the pencil marks as I would guess that taking an eraser to that will remove some of the patina (is that the right word to use here?). You’ll have noticeably lighter spots where the eraser was used than the rest of the card.

If you don’t mind, keep this thread updated. I’d LOVE to see how it plays out.

Yeah don't alter it in any way. Maybe gently wipe it down with a microfiber cloth to get any fingerprints or whatever off it and that's it.

Your looking at about $150 for the PSA Grading, its $75 to grade the card and then shipping insurance etc.

Only one i know is PWCC
Card sells lets say $5000

Theres ebay fees, paypal fees, pwcc fee (10%)

You taking a hit of almost $25% going through a cosignment place.
I assume you dont need the money today/tomorrow as PSA is 40days for a grade at this moment.

You best bet would to get someone you trust to get this graded and then have it shipped back and you sell it yourself.

Just my opinion.

As an eBay Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
I am certainly no expert on grading. But I would be surprised if this item gets a 7.
But one thing is for certain it will get a qualifier for being marked on.But I believe
that in this case a cosigner may be the best.Using one of these high profile places
always seems to get a lot more attention and for what ever reason a whole lot more
money for their sales. Good luck with what ever you decide to do.

Fwiw it looks like a psa 4 or 5 MK at best.So I would expect psa 3/4 type money. I’d
Also expect the buyer to ultimately remove the pencil mark to try and get it in a higher grade slab

I got carried away with the 7 (I was thinking about that later on), but I still think it it is quite something special.

It's a postcard from a set made for the 1912 Olympics. One of the first "cards" (if not the first for) of the legendary Jim Thorpe.

EDIT: I do think it's better than that PSA 4 walter5o9 posted.

It definitely shows better then a PSA 4 but if you are not familiar with grading, a MK designation knocks two points off the grade. So if they feel it shows like a 6 it would get a PSA 6 MK which is the equivalent to a PSA 4.

I know others have suggested to leave the pencil but if you do, expect someone to purchase the card, crack it and have the pencil removed:
