Sportsnet Pacific and the Team1040 will both be carrying the pre game ceremonies which will begin at 6:00PM Pacific. The ceremony is expected to last "about an hour" where there will be a short break and then the game is set to commence at 7:30PM.

To all those lucky few who are members here and will be attending the game this evening. Please Please Please take lots of pics to post:D

Really wish I could be there and let's hope the Canucks can muster up a win for good ol Trevor.

For the locals - This fine morning I was able to get my hands on a copy of the Vancouver Sun - section G and in The Province - Section C there is a 32 page section highlighting Linden's career. It's probably actually one I'll end up keeping. DEFINITELY worth taking a look at.

Linden fans. You may already know this but supposedly on January 29, 2009 there will be a special meet and greet with Trevor Linden. It's a bit costly, but probably an experience worth the price if one has the funds available that is. Not too sure on the specific details but check it out here - www.linden16.com

Thanks for all memories #16 Trevor Linden!

GO Canucks GO:canucks:

A buddy of mine has a game used Linden stick from the 90's that he wants to unload. Probably now is a good time as any :)

I looked on a ticket scalping sight here to see what I would have to shell out for tickets to this one - cheapest were nosebleeds at $350 US each - which might actually be worth shelling out for this event.

I know Randy is going - have a good time buddy and, as Jeff mentioned, lots of pictures please!!!
I am really hoping they cover this one down here - I think they are but nothing is certain yet...keep your fingers crossed.

Hopefully the spOILERS can win this game.
*It'll go either way, Oilers lost 9-2 last night and should be hungry but then again they suck on game nights where there is a ceremony.

As much as I hate to cheer for the cOILERS, I hope they win.

Now I need to go shower.

This game is garbage, just like last night's game, just like Linden's jersey getting retired, just like the Oilers.

Gagner and Cole can go F off and take Staios along with them.
I feel sorry for Roloson.

3-2 is there a glimmer of hope the Oiler can hold the Nucks to 1 point?

Then again I never really could rely on the Oilers to help the Flames.

Oh well I suppose it is better the Flames win the division without having to rely on another team losing.

4 - 2 Empty netter. Oilers are brutal they can't even win when I cheer for them :D

Well Nuckers, you just won't let 1st place go. Could be and interesting season.

Wow I didn't realize Gagner only has 1 goal and 6 points in 26 games.

That is so Alexander Daigle.
Going into tonights game, BEn Eager had more goals then Gagner had points. Gagner got a goal tonight at the very end so now we could say Eager and Gagner have the same amount of points. Even in less games!!!

Another bad last-ditch effort by the Oil. :(
Cole still can't seem to score yet still makes the effort to check his opponents. He practically had Sanford beat in the 3rd period, but fanned on the shot....I feel sorry for him becuase he does care about the situation the team is in, and boy did he ever show it on the bench following the empty-netter...Wow! Even he is disgusted with the situation!

Every day, I listen to the "Team 1260" and its obvious the fans calling into the show are fed up. Maybe they are the fans that go to one game a year and feel the need to complain....or perhaps they are season ticket holders like me.

And speaking of after-hours...MacT had all those microphones in his face after the game, and was literally babbling like an idiot.
I'm sorry, but even die-hard Oiler fans have only so much threshold for excuses!

There was a poll on the SNW telecast after the game ended that asked which would you prefer:
a) Oilers fire MacT
b}) Oilers make a trade
c) Oilers do nothing

*In conjunction with the the Sens stating they are open to a top-tier d-men offer for Spezza, I say its time to offer up any Oilers center plus any d-men (less Souray)...plus a 1st rounder.....for Spezza (that is if Mr. Murray is serious about dealing!)
My basis....The Oil can't trade for players like Kovalchuk because he's not on the market, and the players that may be obtainable want more than they are worth, (Man I am so sick and tired of the "Is it true the Oilers are interested in trading for Kovy?".....rumors.) ahhhhh!

Considering both teams are "likely" equally as desperate for a new team perspective, which choice must be selected?

I say make the Sens a relative trade offer for Spezza...and if no dice you have no other choice but to fire MacT! The only Oilers that deserve a pass IMO are Hemsky, Cogliano, Souray, Penner and Roloson.

There is no other "top 16" NHL team...let alone any other 29 teams, that would be tolerating this effort!!!
As much as I want the Oil to pickup where they left off 3 seasons ago, there is only so much a fan can take of being a .500 hockey team!!

oh yeah....and congrats to Trevor Linden....he deserves the tribute!

I am very surprised by the Canucks' play so far this season. While I was never one of the 'experts' who thought they were going to finish bottom four in the league, I also never expected them to be battling for first place after 30ish games.

This is a team that 'can't score goals' (they can), 'only has one good player' (untrue) and 'are dead in the water without Luongo' (they are 6-4-1 since he went down). They were laughed at for gambling on Wellwood, with people saying 'You know you're going to be crap when you take Toronto's cast-offs' (Wellwood is doing just fine).

They played 19 of their first 30 on the road. They played the third period of last night's game with only 4 Dmen.

With all of this, they are still battling for first with a team that was supposed to run away with the division. I am impressed.

There is a chemistry there which was not present in past years. It seems whoever they throw out there as line combos, seems to click 90% of the time.

Ryan Kesler has quitely become the best defensive forward in the NHL (this season). Alex Burrows has finally decided to have some patience on the PK (and is clearing the puck with much more regularity). Ohlund quietly goes about his job, shutting donw the big forwards. And guys like O'Brien, Brown, and Hordichuk add a toughness that had been missing for the past two seasons.

Will they keep it up? I am not holding my breath. But I am still very impressed that a team 99.5% of people thought were going to be bottom-feeders and out of it by the 10 game mark, is doing as well as they are. My skeptisism of Mike Gillis is no longer present.
