I won a SP Authentic SOTT redemption card off of Ebay. I asked the seller if he could email me the redemption code, to which he responding by saying that it is safer to mail the actual card and then have it scratched once it is in my hands. I was thinking that emailing me the redemption code would actually avoid any potential problems of lost email etc.

Am I missing something with respect to the safety of emailing codes? It's not as if the internet crooks in the world are going to take time off of trying to get credit card information off the net and instead steal an emailed Upper Deck redemption code!

Personally, I'd rather mail the card to an unknown party - what if he emailed you the code and you had problems redeeming it? You would have to go through him and UD to fix the problem. If you scratch the card, you can only blame UD if there is a problem.

Just my thoughts.

I have asked that same question to sellers many times and only once has he/she emailed the code, but also required shipping and HANDLING
