The New York Rangers have acquired forward Eric Staal from the Carolina Hurricanes.

In exchange, the Hurricanes will reportedly receive a pair of second-round picks and prospect Aleksi Saarela.

As part of the deal, Carolina retains 50 per cent of Staal’s salary.

In 12 seasons with the Hurricanes, the 31-year-old Staal recorded 322 goals and 775 points in 909 games and led Carolina to a Stanley Cup in 2006.

Staal was drafted second overall by the Hurricanes in the 2003 NHL Draft.

More to come…

Why not get Jordan and the younger brother in the deal as well?

All kidding aside, man, that is a GREAT move for the Rangers. I don't care what anyone says, Staal is still a great and impact player in the NHL and should be revitalized with that talented Rangers lineup!
