With day one of the Free Agent Frenzy almost over, one question for me is Where will Evgeni Nabokov end up? He's been my favorite player ever since Fedorov has moved to the KHL, and I'm truly concerned that after todays moves that Nabokov will be heading in the same way. Who else is looking for a starting goaltender? All of the teams that I had originally thought he could go to have picked up a goaltender. The last team I could see that would try to pick him up would be the Capitals but this is just a guess. Does anyone have any hard evidence or I would even like to hear some guesses from other teams fans on where he will go.

Colorado could always need a good goalie. God knows they didn't have a quality golie this season.

To be honest I never really thought about them as I thought (just like most Colorado fans) that Craig Anderson is/was the answer in net. I wouldn't mind seeing him in Colorado with the young talent on the ice and to get some sweet patch cards..;)

Colorado didn't have a quality goalie? Somehow I recall some goalie having such a great season they made the playoffs when people expected them to miss it.

Anderson was worth the most points for most of the season in my fantasy league...

Nabokov will end up in the K, book it.

Once Craig Anderson can put together multiple years like this year, then I might be convinced. They haven't had a goalie they could count on since Roy retired. I am a Avalanche fan it has been hard to see what happened to the team.

St. Louis? Atlanta? Edmonton? Toronto ?

St. Louis still has Jaroslav Halak and Ty Conklin on contract.

Atlanta picked up Chris Mason

Edmonton still has Khabibulin on contract for 2-3 more years

Toronto has the Monster, and JS Giguerre

I don't believe any of those teams will go after him.

Hedberg signed with Jersey, Anderson was the best free agent signing last year dollar for dollar, I believe he's the real deal, but that's just my opinion.

My money is on the KHL, he's worth no more than 2-2.5M per year and he's pricing himself right out of the NHL.

Thanks for the Hedberg fix, above post edited....I think your right with pricing himself out of the NHL, if he drops his price tag he could go to Philly (if they make some cap room) or Tampa Bay.

Even with the signing of Dan Ellis? Would you make Dan Ellis the backup then? Wouldn't be a bad idea and I do like the way things are shaping up down in Tampa Bay with Stevie Y running things.
What sounds better? Dan Ellis and Mike Smith.......or Nabokov and Dan Ellis? $1.5 mill for a strong backup isn't unreal; $1.5 mil for a number 1 goalie is a stretch.

There's also the off chance he goes somewhere with an established goalie and splits time. The Avs would be a good fit then as I don't think Anderson can put in a solid full season.

No matter where he goes he's taking a pay cut (unless it's the KHL), that much I feel is certain.

I don't know because on TSN today they said that Philly offered the same deal to Nabokov and Turco, it was either 2M per year or 2.5M per year and both turned down the Flyers.

That will be an offer that they BOTH regret turning down.
Turco was crazy to turn it down and play with a very good team that went to the finals. Nabby is just plain being greedy or knows he has a $4M offer already made in Russia.

Islanders? Dallas? Washington? Philly? Russia?

Number 5 is looking more likely, unless another team makes a trade to fit him in.
