Phoenix won 3-2 on Nov. 5 as Antoine Vermette scored in the shootout. Vancouver responded for a 3-2 win of its own Dec. 6 on an overtime goal by Chris Higgins. And most recently, Mike Smith made 29 saves and Vermette scored the lone goal as the Coyotes blanked the Canucks 1-0 on Jan. 16.
Big story: This is the proverbial "four-point game" in the sense that Phoenix could pull within two points of Vancouver for the eighth seed in the Western Conference or find itself six points out, depending on who wins and whether the victory is in regulation. The Coyotes will still hold a game in hand regardless of the outcome, but with almost two-thirds of the season in the books this is about as big as it gets for the end of January.
