Eichel is better. LOL
Seriously though, big night for McDraftPick but as Rob noted, a squad of pylons on the back end.
Still good for the game though, we need this, kids like McDavid and Eichel, etc to keep growing it!
A squad of pylons might be better. LOL.
In all seriousness the really cool thing about this years rookie class, is they are making the players around them better.
Jordan Eberle looks like a completely different player when operating with McDavid. Granted Eberle was already considered a pretty good talent, McDavid makes him that much better. Same thing with B. Pouliot.
If you watch Eichel on the ice, he makes people around him better too. Girgensons has had his best games this year when playing on Eichel's wing. When Marcus Foligno plays with him, you can see he has an extra little jump out there from knowing Jack is on the ice with him.
Also here's a bold statement that some might not consider:
Artemi Panarin makes Patrick Kane a little bit better.
Wait, Patrick Kane, getting better from another player?
If you think about it, before this season, it was essentially Kane with 2 guys that he got paired with. Unless mayhem was ensuing and he ended up with Toews. Now the line of Panarin-Anisimov-Kane you have 2 ridiculously skilled forwards to worry about, with a serviceable center between them. You cover Kane well? Too bad, Panarin burned you. You covered them both? Well they found a way to find Anisimov wide open. I think Panarin has opened up the ice a bit for Kane and might be apart of the season he's destroying the NHL in points right now.
Such a fun rookie class to watch, the only beef I have is of course it's the Eichel/McDavid debate. How about showing some love to other Rookies who are playing pretty darn good? Panarin, Larkin, Domi are well known but still don't receive the same consideration. Sam Reinhart has as many goals as Eichel this year. Gostisbehere in Philly has been playing tremendous since being called out.
McDavid is amazing, no doubt seems to be the real deal. But there are plenty of other rookies who are too.
