My 360 is no longer reading any discs I put into it, it says reading then says open tray. Whats wrong with it?!!?

Forgot to mention this, my idiot brother has been trying to play Skate 2, but I've told him that there are cracks by the center hole and not to use it, but he still tries it. Does this have a affect on it

No, didn't know about the vacum, what size is it

Just clean near all the vents on the outside of the xbox. Use the attachment that has the brush bit on the end. If you clean it once a week it stops the xbox cooling fan drawing in the dust that builds inside.

Ummm the fans dont suck air in they push air out dude

Indeed it does but where does that air come from? The xbox draws some air in and then blows it out. I have an elite and its much easier to see the dust around the vents than it is on the white version. Dust has been an issue with most modern consoles and it was far worse on the PS2 Version 1. In the UK they issued instructions on cleaning the consoles vents in order to stop the system over heating. I belive that if you read all the xbox 360 instructions it also advises that you do this.

i think its time to get yourselves a ps3, xbox 360 sucks.

I have 3 XBOX 360s, and 1 Playstation 3. The PS3 is still too expensive for what it offers. The 360 remains great for games, is a solid media playback platform, and runs about half the cost - depending on the system choice.

It's no different than large desktop PC fans and power supplies. It blows air out; but it still accrues dust.

I like your solution to use a decent attachment and vacuum.

Problem can't be fixed as our DVD drive is shot and it'll cost 100$ to get it fixed, so were just Red Ringing it.

Thanks for all the help

I don't understand what this means. You can intentionally make the system crap out and get service that way?

You should be able to replace the DVD-ROM drive much cheaper depending on which drive it is.

Yeah some people said wrapping a towel or plastic bag will heat it up, so that the sawtered parts will detach. The shipping for a RROD problem is free because of that new 3 year warranty. We can replace the drive, but we void the warranty and if we have problems later were SOL

If you have one of the new ones why don't you just send it in to get fixed for free. Oh yeah the towel thing does work but only for a bit and then you will have to do it again.

Our model is one from 2006, so will get it fixed free, through the RROD.

The 1st time my 360 was screwed up it wouldn't get past the 1st period in NHL 07 so i keep it on all day and nite. Needless to say it red ringed and was fixed for free. Good luck getting it to red ring.
