Someone may have sent the seller a private message before you posted.
In my experience most people here are fair and will sell or trade with the first person or in order if a deal falls through.

Yes, that can be very frustrating. That’s why I always ask that someone post first before PM so that it is transparent.

All you can do is move on to the next.

Hey!
If you want me to whip up a dollar thread of Flyers cards I could give it a shot for you. Let me know what you'd prefer to see in there and a budget and I'll see if I can scan enough to catch your interest.

Sucks to miss out on those threads, but they can be pretty overwhelming for a seller if they are popular.

There are also times where one person might reply to a one hundred card thread that they want these two and then someone else says they are interested in these three then someone else says they will take all hundred. By the time they check their thread, they may see all three replies at once. As the seller, it would be simplest to do the one transaction for all, plus if they take out the first 5, they may lose the sale in the other 95.
Of course if a commitment is made to sell the first five before the offer rolls in on the entire thread, that commitment takes priority over the lot sale, in my books.

To simply answer your question with just my opinion - it's sellers choice. How each seller conducts their business is up to them. Some will clearly state, others will not. In the end though, how a seller operates will become known and if people don't like the way they do things, they have the right to not deal with that person.
