In Honour of Iggy’s Jersey Retirement: Let’s Show Off Some Cards!

Well I’m pretty excited for the ceremony tonight. It’ll be pretty great to see my all time favorite player’s name go up in the rafters in the dome. So in light of the event tonight, I figured it would be fun to see some of everyone’s favorite Jarome Iginla cardboard that they own. I spoke to Al (Uhtrid the Viking) and we agreed it would cool to share 12 of our favorite Iginla cards. I’m looking forward to seeing the cards he chooses to post and hopefully we can get a bunch more of you on board. Unfortunately I’m not anywhere near home, so there’s a few photos that are not as great of quality as the rest. And these are in no particular order in the post.

Well, as Jayden already told you I was going to attempt keeping it down to 12 scans. Once I started going through my cards I quickly realized that wasn't going to happen. I tried to pick cards to represent the different companies, but also to reflect some teammates, and, to show where my favorites are. So, welcome to the new math curriculum where 12 looks like this.


I love the idea of these oversize cards, especially since they weren't issued very often. These come from Donruss.

Pacific made some great cards, and many sets show the true definition of the word shiny. But if I'm honest, I'm a patch guy at heart, this one is from Revolution.

I always made a trip to MacDonalds when their hockey cards came out. Pulling in a patch card was something special.

When most people hear the name Topps the Gold Label series comes to mind. Topps Reserve is a much smaller group with lots of variety, and memorabilia pieces.

Panini made quite a splash when they entered the market, and there are a ton of cards for Iggy. I really like the idea of booklets, and the second card features one of Iggy's linemates, Alex Tanguay.

The majority of my Iginla cards come from Upper Deck. SPGU and The Cup seem to be the main contributors, and both series have lots of high end cards.
