In memoriam Ilkka Sinisalo

This is something new for a Finnish NHL fan. First Matti Hagman and now Ilkka Sinisalo drawing his last breath, which seems to have come as a surprise to most hockey people in Finland. Somehow difficult to understand that these 80s stars and players who paved the way and inspired other Finnish players are now getting old. Sinisalo is best remembered playing for the Flyers (36 and 39 goal seasons in the mid-eighties) and he also appeared for the North Stars and the Kings briefly.

Wow, another member of the 80's Flyers teams gone way too soon. I know my childhood heroes are getting older, but you still don't expect them to not be with us. Ilkka was always fun to watch, especially when being centered by Pelle Eklund and was a big contributor during the Cup runs of the 80's.

I remember him at his peak with the Flyers, just the Gretzky/Messier Oilers in their way of two Stanley Cups. Good Flyers teams in the mid-80's. Yes, too early... 59 from prostate cancer. Get yourself screened lads... once your over 50 they say. RIP Sinisalo.
