Per Bob McKenzie on Twitter:

"Jeff Carter has been traded to LAK for Jack Johnson and 1st round pick. Pending a medical tomorrow."

Really interesting to see Carter with Richards again.
Thoughts?

Carter to the Kings for JMFJ and a 1st

Carter to the Kings for JMFJ and a 1st is complete - pending physical tomorrow as per Dreger/McKenzie and Aaron Portzline.

LA gets an injection in the scoring department, but that 1st Round Pick was too much to give up for LA. Columbus wins this deal.

Looks like there's a Philadelphia movement afoot in Los Angeles.

From Pierre Lebrun

"The 1st-rd pick in Carter deal is conditional: If Kings miss playoffs this year, pick goes to 2013. If Kings make it, CBJ choose '12 or '13"

So essentially they traded Voracek, Couturier and a 3rd for Jack and a 1st without the pouting and albatross contract.

They did alright considering. Now where does Nash go...sure isn't LA.

There's no longer a need to move Nash for anything other than an amazing offer. Wouldn't be surprised to see Mason land in Pittsburgh, thouigh.

If anyone is interested, Howson will be having a press conference shortly.

Columbus got more than I thought they would. Whether they "win" the deal or not, they're probably just happy to get Carter out.

Am I one of the few who do not think Jeff Carter is anything special? He scores a lot of goals, but takes a ton of shots and ton of the offensive chances for teams. I think Columbus wins by far.

So when's the first card of Carter wearing a Jackets jersey that's labeled "Kings" with a Philly patch come out?

Depending on whether you believe the rumor or not, they supposedly want Umberger although I'm not sure if that's been stirred up simply because he's from there.
They did have interest in him last year at the deadline.

1)I'm glad they got a proven player back. I would have been pissed if it was a unproven player/picks/prospects type of return. Kind of like the Vermette deal.
2)Having a Wiz and Johnson on the back end is a little scary. Yeah +/- is a over rated stat but the - could get ugly.

During the presser, Howson said goaltending needs to get better and will look at it after the season unless a offer comes up at the deadline. Still plans on spending the money saved if it helps the team.
