Playing around with my new digital camera and thought I'd share this one. I'm not ripping these days but I did preorder a few packs of Ultimate and this came out of one of them....

It's one of the nicer Roenicks that I've seen. Looks like it's the bottom of the # "7" from the shoulder. It's not FT but it is FS.

So to add fuel to the fire of controversy with this product. If indeed this is from the shoulder number, is it truly a "patch" card? I say no. Sure it's a nice card, but it's not a patch card. It's a number card.

Than what would be a patch card? The name would be the nameplate, the team logo would be the crest, the MeiGray tag would just be the authencity tag, then there's the laundry tag on the collar.

Very nice Roenick patch there.

In my opinion. . . anything sewn ON TOP of the jersey is a patch. . . that includes the team emblem, numbers, nameplate, commerative patches, etc.

If you are considering only the team's logo. . . then you should redefine the critique to "emblems" instead of "patches."

To me these are the distinctions...

Patch, logo, emblem are all equivalent and refer to either the team logo and/or any special commemorative patches (NHL shield, shoulder patches)

Number and nameplate are equivalents and are outside of the first category

The big difference here is that a number (excluding jersey swatches) can never be more than 3 colors, and in most instances, will be 2 colors. Most will have long layered pieces of material with stitching.

Logos can have many layers of colors and patterns, where really nice ones features multiple-colored embroidery.
