Jordan Staal and James Neal out "weeks"

Actually the Staal 4 -6 weeks is better than I thought.. That must mean there is no surgery needed.. Losing Neal makes trades even more critical.

It has been a difficult two seasons to say the least...

This is bordering on the ridiculous now.

Ahh, we're used to it as Penguins fans anymore. I'm sure in the next few games another player will go down for a few weeks. The bad part is now, they will have a tough time making the playoffs because the East is so strong now.

Great line from www.pittsburghpenguins.com:

The Pens have suffered 210 man-games lost this season to injury, including missing key players like Sidney Crosby (32 games), Zbynek Michalek (20), Kris Letang (16), Evgeni Malkin (7), Staal (6) and Paul Martin (6).

The Pens injuries were so bad that at one point, the team had $28 million dollars in player salary out of the lineup due to injuries.

The Pens are on pace for 431 man-games lost, which would eclipse the devastating 350 lost last season.

Despite the 350 man-games lost in 2010-11 the Pens still finished in a tie for the Atlantic Division title with 106 points (49-25-8). Last season, Pittsburgh also lost top players like Crosby (41), Malkin (39) and Staal (39).

Now it is reported Craig Adams injured his right knee in practice and had to be carried off the ice..

At this point, they should just declare Crosby out for the year, trade Paul Martin for RJ Umberger and Brent Johnson and Asham for anything, play the young guys (Despres, Tangradi, etc), get healthy, get a high draft pick and take a run at it next year. It's obvious there is a black cloud over this team this year.

Pens really are having a run of bad luck this year with all the injuries. Being a Pens fan for 30 years though I'm used to it.

The only problem now is I'll have to listen to a bunch of idiots at the WBS Pens games complain because Pitt is calling up all our players. I swear most of these people here don't understand the concept of the AHL.

According to the Pens website, they have requested an update from Sidney Crosby about his chances of playing this season. Apparently they are contemplating making several trades and acquiring "significant personel" as Mark Madden put it. I can see Paul Martin, first round pick and a young defenseman being traded.. Others that would not surprise me would be Tangradi, Picard, and Brent Johnson...although Johnson not likely..

My hope is that they are going after Bobby Ryan and Iginla..

Please take Tangradi I think hes a total flop

Maybe trading for Rick Nash would be a thought. They already traded Letestu to the Blue Jackets, maybe the can work out another deal. Trading P. Martin for some forwards though should be a top priority. Pens have some really good talent in WBS and if things keep going the way they are almost all of WBS will be playing for the Pens by year end.

I dont see how Umberger and Bugsy would help here at all really .......esp with Ryans contract no thanks

Would you rather they be stuck with Paul Martin's contract?

Also, Ryan Malone's cap hit for the next 3 years is 3mil/2.5mil/2.5mil.

If they could somehow turn Martin, Niskanen and a draft pick for Umberger and Malone, they might not be that bad. Tampa needs a shakeup too.

I just dont see how Malone or Umberger will be of any help Tampa needs a goalie more than anything......all speculation aside martin should be gone his contract is def not deserved with his play

Malone is exactly the type of player the Pens need. Umberger would be a great addition. Both have cap hits that are reasonable.
