Box #9. In this case, 7 didn't eat 9.

Box #9. So far, the weakest box had a Bobby Orr GU in it as the last hit. That's still a pretty damn strong box. Dryden has been my epic hit so far, as well as a stunning Lafleur GU piece. There have been others that are really good too. Let's see how much box #9 can impress. There's only two left to make a mark. Let's go Habs & ITG Vault!

ooohhhh.... snap. And I said it out loud. I know that's not what the cool kids are saying. I don't know what they are saying, but its not that.

Raymond Bourque BOSTON number (tri-colour, if barely), with a huge scrawling, great looking autograph (stamped red vault). I have been looking for a Bourque auto for some time and for him in Boston where he made his career. The only problem I have with this card (no, it has nothing to do with him not being Montreal) is that the "PLUS NUMBER" silver stamp is actually stamped over his autograph. That totally sucks. Bourque, you magnificient *******, you had your auto stamped over. Some collectors are okay with that. I don't know for sure 100%. Its still a HOF auto of one of the best D that ever lived.

Cards are asked again. Good sign.

Sjwam! (?) Its a Memorably Moments (Red version, Red Stamp) of one of my favourite goalies (see the sig) on my favourite team. A nice pack pulled Jacque Plante gamer. That photo is just eery, him staring down the camera while donning the mask. Like, "Blake, just dare to tell me that I can't wear a mask." Good vibes in box #9. Good vibes. Everything is red on this card and that GU piece is surrounded by a brick wall. Funny ITG. I also like the fact that it says "Jacques Plante - Plante Dons Mask" in the bottom right. I would have preferred the bloody visage of him donning the mask for that text, but his intense look is still good.

What else is waiting in this box? More Habs, I hope!

EDS: Text on back:

Plante was one of the game's greatest innovators and he changed goaltending forever when he donned a mask for the first time after being injured by a shot from Andy Bathgate during a game with the New York Rangers on Nov 1, 1959.

With the text on the back, I would even more want the image from that day.

Leafs? Kulemin? Blue and white Debut for Kulemin, Green Vault Stamp. The jersey piece is nice with the blue and white and seam. I wonder if this is a SP version? I doubt it though. I like the fact that the date of first play is on the front of the card (Oct 9, 2008) and that we see the player stepping off the bench onto the ice with his Jersey number. I am familiar with this series of cards and I much prefer the goalie version because the player stepping on the ice for those cards is pictured as a goalie and not just a generic player. Kulemin shoots left, so its good that they show him holding the stick with his right hand, but did this card change the stick hand over for right handed shots? I don't know. I also don't care for Kulemin. so, next card.

Brodeur Silver Patch tri colour Green Stamp. This is the first Box where the box hit was certainly in the first or second position. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy with Brodeur. He's a great french goalie who just happened to play for the wrong (read, non-Montreal) team. His career also took him to St. Louis for one season, for some reason (?) rather than retiring as a New Jersey Devil. You are the all time winning-est goalie Mr. Brodeur, but I think the order of the cards in this box should have been reversed.

Happy with the Habs. What's the hit here? Possibly the Bourque or Plante.

Box #10... I'm looking at you to deliver and deliver big :foottap:

Cheers,

reoddai
