It's time for another mail call filled with SHARKS!
1st up is an old school blast from the past lot of inserts..
Lot of 1996 UD Lord Stanley's Heroes inserts. I got a lot of Quaterfinals cards (/5000) of Coffey, Fleury, Sakic, and Gretzky. I also got a cool red "Semi-Finals" Messier /1000. I remember chasing these when I was a tadpole and even looking at them now, they are/were one of the coolest parallel sets ever made by UD. These things look great when they are peeled.. I wish I could land a Finals parallel version of one, if anyone has one in their collection, please post a scan so I can see it

Speaking of parallels, I have decided to start a project that I am close to finishing. I recently was able to pick this gem at a local trade night:
This came via Keith(Kdema) who was nice enough to trade it to me! I figured now that I have the 1/1, I might as well go for all the colors..(sapphire, ruby, and emerald). So I did some searching and landed these:
The ruby and sapphire were easy enough to find and am now down to the Emerald /10 version and the base regular version. I am not too worried about the base version but the Emerald is a tad tougher. With this product being almost 4 years old, I don't expect to see the Emerald pop up anytime soon.. So if anybody has/knows where a Emerald copy is, please lmk!

06-07 UD Series 1 Bernier Cyan Plate 1/1
Not a huge fan of the plates usually but really like this one! One of Bernier's better card "pictures" showing him battling in front of the net. I also think the rounded corners is kinda cool, nice to get away from all those square corners
Bernier Be A Player Parallel Auto 7/10
This was a steal that player collectors love. This popped up when BAP first came out and I threw in a $10 bid just for the heck of it. I expected to get outbid but I won it for $8 and change, nice to get a auto. /10 of your guy for less than a price of a pack!
Bernier UD Game Jersey Patch 12/15. I have been after one of these for a while but was waiting for the right patch. This was the right patch, a nice 3 color patch that really stands out. The orange and black really clash
Bernier Cup RC Auto /199 3 Color. Add another Bernier Cup rc to the hoard! This came via everyone's favorite Cammy fan AKA Chadsexington AKA Matt P! Matt was kind enough to make a trade with me on this card. Matt you are truly a gentleman and a Cammy fan! Thanks Matt!
Bernier Cup RC Auto /199 4 Color. This one came via ebay and is a nice 4 color patch. All I have to say is, Bernier better have a big year this season or I will cry.. A LOT
Well as you know, they say variety is the spice of life. That being said with the new Cup release, it was time for my annual "hoarding" of a Shark rookie Obviously last year it was Bernierm, this year I had 3 to choose from: Carle, Pickles(Vlasic), or Little Joe! I am not a huge fan of D-Men rcs so I decided to go with Pavelski. I also am a geek for "Mike Tyson's Punch Out", and Pavelski reminds me of "Little Joe". All I need, is to see "Doc" telling Little Joe to keep his head up when taking a slapper.. Ok enough of Nintendo memories and on to the Pavelski Scans:

I got to say UD did a great job with the Cup this year! Tons of nice patches of Sharks and some nice dual autographed pieces.. I have been trying to snag some Cheechoos but keep getting sniped (All those Darn Cheechoo fans!) I did however land this at least:
Jumbo Joe Limited Logos 3 clr Patch auto /50
Love the blade of the stick patch, just looks really big and busy! Joe's nice graph makes it nice as well, just wish the autograph was horizontal and not vertical but that's just being nit picky!
Now we get to our 3 Stars of this post!

Thanks Jerry! Card has been redeemed and has the dreaded "Be Patient, it will be a 2-3 year wait.."! It's one of those cards that I am willing to wait for, hope it's sooner than later!

Thornton/Cheechoo Dual Scripted Swatches Auto /5! Huge thanks to Mr. Steven Singer on this beauty! Steven is easy to haggle with and all around decent guy! When the checklist came out for the Cup, after I looked over it I targeted 2 cards that I HAD to have, and this was one of them! Scans do not do these cards justice, just a sharp card and it's always nice if it's your team!
Now I had 2 "1st Star" choice for this post and could not decide what should get the nod. So I decided to do a "1st Star 1A" and a 1st Star 1B Kinda cheesy, but my post = my rules 
1st Star 1A:
The Cup Cheechoo Hardware Heroes Patch Auto.
/ AKA 1/1! This one comes via Jc2newt who had an insane case of Cup at National's and was kind enough to trade this to me! Jeff is a great guy and easy to deal with! This was not the other card I "Had" to have when I saw the checklist but when I saw the patch and how gorgeous this card looked I had to have it! Even the "scribble" by Cheechoo can't take away my love for this card !!

Thornton/Bernier Dual NHL Shields Auto
/ AKA 1/1!!! This was the 2nd card that I targeted as a must have when I saw the checklist. I would have preferred Bernier/Michalek rather than Thornton but Karvin had to spite me and make it tough on me Just kidding Karvin! I really can't wait to get this one, and will fit in nicely in the Bernier PC! This one also says, "Please be patient.. will take 2-3 years.." I hope this is another one that will get sent out soon!
Whew.. I am all tuckered out! Guess this is the part where I have to explain my thread title. I have decided to take a little break from collecting.. I know it is unrealistic for me to say I am quitting and I am never coming back like so many have said before. At the same time I feel a "sabbatical" or a break is sorely needed. The passion for collecting just hasn't been there for a while. It's been creeping up on me for a while now (last year or so) but a break is the right thing for me at this time. Maybe a break will light my passion for collecting again! Those who know me well, know where I am coming from and can relate. I still plan on picking up a nice Shark piece every so often and of course will still post often here. I will live thru the Mail acquisitions of everyone else here! I am in process of moving quite a bit of collection to various collectors and am looking to move quite a bit to pay off some debt. So if you have interest in any certain pieces, shoot me a pm and I'll try my best to work with you! I will miss posting my "L" monster mail posts, but I will live thru Mike G, Deece, Barrie, and everyone else here
