I had to end with the Lach even though he was the lowest grade of the bunch. For those of you not familiar with this set, Elmer Lach is card #1 of the set. That seems to make this card a real bugger to find in decent condition. I was happy to find one that finally met my minimum criteria for this project. Not expecting an upgrade to that card anytime in the near future.

Thanks for looking. . . please drive safely!

I demand pictures of Spiderma...I mean the entire vintage set when it's completed!

Sweet swag, his Jayness. You definitely are the king of vintage RC swag now too.

Jay, nice to see the vintage cards. You have some really decent grades there too, 7's are tough to come by in these sets. Congrats and I know what you mean about the Lach #1, those got all the wear and tear from being on the top of the pile and getting handled more than the others.

Thanks.
Dan.

Tim - Thanks man. It took a while to figure out how to judge the Parkies, but I've got a pretty good hang of it now. It's always better to buy these types of cards in person, so you can inspect them in hand.

Trev - Little by little. I'm getting there. Maybe I'll be able to finish the set sometime in 2008. Seems like things are slowing down as my list gets smaller and the cards don't appear in good condition very frequently. :|

Wes - I'd certainly be happy to oblige once the project is completed. Of course, we might all be a year older by then. :o

Dan - Yep. It seems the first and last cards of the set seem to be the hardest to find in nice condition for the reasons you mentioned. It's funny because that situation didn't even occur to me until I was into this project. Then I realized why they were so hard to find in non-crumpled condition. :D

Not just impressive, but smart, Jay. Particularly now that you're slabbing them, but even just in general, I suspect vintage of that era will retain value far more regularly than new product, that IMHO is grossly overvalued...

Ver' nice.

I was wondering how that Parkhurst set was coming along, some cool cards, awesome set design, some pretty good grades as well...nice looking cards, going to be an awesome set when you are done with it :)

Jay,

Congrats on the Vintage pick-ups, they are some very nice looking cards, and with decent grades too.

And like Wes, I'd love to see the whole set once its complete :)

Jason, That set is gonna be the shiznit when you finish it off. Nice Lundqvist too. I'll give you any Poti card you want in trade for it.. Just lmk.:D Thanks for the scans. Mike

Love the old ones and I agree finding Elmer Lach in high grade is near impossible. The first and last card in those old sets always took the most abuse. Great looking stuff.

Jay,
Always cool to see how your progressing on that Parkie set. Certainly one of the most (if not THE most) desired sets ever and your getting em with solid grades too. I could only imagine what this is costing you.... goodluck with the rest! How many more to go?>

Dave - I definitely like the feel of holding a vintage card in hand moreso than the modern cookie cutter (insert flavor of the month here). Modern stuff is definitely overvalued, but I guess the younger crowd won't realize that until their cards turn "vintage."

Shawn - Thanks bud. My existence in this hobby is meaningless without your approval. ;)

Benn - I will certainly make it a point to display the set once completed.

Mikey - Free choice of any Poti? Oh man... you sure know how to drive a hard bargain! :o

Ernie - Thanks. Remember... it's not about the cost! It's purely about the enjoyment. Certainly you can't take on a true vintage project without sufficient funding, but it's also not a race either. You can collect vintage on a budget... just spread out your purchases over a long time. To answer your other question... I need 26 more cards, plus 2 eventual upgrades. Things have slowed down considerably as the wantlist dwindles and I'm being more selective on condition.

Thanks to everyone else that has responded so far.

Jay.

Arriving to the party, late as usual :D

Congrats on your most recent pick-ups, fella'

Definitely some quality vintage singles ya got there !

Can't wait to see the completed project. Keep up the great work ;)

Cheers,
Eli
