Been a while since a mail post. My wife and I became home owners for the first time this December and things are finally calming down. Just a bit more painting to do... She says ;). Anyway, I've been lucky to make a lot of fantastic trades and pick up's over the last 4 months or so... Here we go:

brodeurmcd.jpg

toewsmcd.jpg
timthomasmcd.jpg

Some McD's pulls... Nothing over the top...

Some more recent pulls:

sakicchampsjsy-1.jpg

From a Champs blaster...

bielpopcardzgu.jpg

From a Fairfield movie gu guaranted pack. This was actually in one of the 2 pop cardz packs. I didn't even know I had pulled a gu swatch as the cards are quite thin. I thought I hit it big then I realized they were something like 1 in 5 packs....

phaneufartifacts.jpg
espoartifactsjsy.jpg

bogosialartifacts10.jpg
havlatartifactsauto.jpg

A couple artifact pulls. The Bogosian is /10...

anisinmovyg.jpg

The one and only pack I tried of UD1 yeilded this.

Now some other pickups. From a Bonsor show a couple months ago...

parisebtpauto.jpg
huetbtpjsygold.jpg

The Huet is the gold /10 version.

williamsudjsy.jpg
raskartifactsauto.jpg

backstromartifactsjsyparch.jpg

These 3 were a sorry by UD for not being able to replace a couple damaged cards. I have a Backstrom mini PC so that one was kinda nice to see!

biletnikoffauto.jpg
lugisautorc.jpg

stevenjacksonjsy.jpg
elimanningjsy.jpg

These 4 were a prize I won in one of Bruces (meatmancgy) IE contests. Thanks again Bruce. The Fred B. /25 is sweet!! My grandma used to claim that he was my dads 3 or 4th cousin ;).

Now for some trades n' stuff!

burrowsspx.jpg
henrikletterI.jpg

Errrrr :(.. It has been so long since I made most of these trades I forget off of the top of my head who I got a lot of them from... Sorry in advance to you all. Here is one trade. I have decided to try for the Henrik Sediun name plate! The Burrows is the only other Burrows RC I did not have yet in the pc.

rockhulkmatt.jpg
brimisekrocketrival.jpg

burepatchatomic.jpg
lumepatch.jpg

Again, I am not sure but I think I got all 4 of these from the same trade. The Lume is in the past Nucks PC :). The Brimisek was graded and is not an ITG Ultimate card.

mamothbonemini.jpg

This is the mini version. I have the regular and the mini now! Still looking for the other species in the fossils and artifacts collection....

stastnyultimateautorc.jpg

A nice trade with Matt Heder brought me this nice Stastny ultimate rc. Thanks again Matt!

canada6back.jpg

canada6front.jpg

A really cool piece to add to my random PC. Good buddy Gordon (Shabobala) sold me this bad boy for a fantastic price. It is a hinged booklet type card. CANADA! :)

hsedinlettern.jpg

And another letter in the name.... That's 2 down.....

hsedinartifactspatch.jpg

A very nice Artifacts H. Sedin patch/jsy combo. Got it in a trade and as usuall, I can't remember from where....

lindenspgugoldtriple.jpg

Another trade brought me this nice gold parallel of the Linden SPGU 3X jsy. This one is a nice PC addition for me!

lindenmaskjsy.jpg

Won this one on Ebay a while back. I think for only about $8 which is quite reasonable for an older rare Linden gu...

It makes the final trifecta!!!

LindenMaskpatchsig.jpg

Took about 3 years to track all 3 down and it was funny that the most common one was the last one to have been found. Just works that way I suppose!

Now I know I know, not everyones favorite guy these days, and I can't say I am happy with some of his play, but he is still my fav. Some pick-up's for my largest PC, Matt Cooke stuff:

cookeudpromo2.jpg

Friend and all round good dude, Dave (canucksfreak19) sent me this little surprise in the mail. A welcome addition to my main PC!

cookemedalion-1.jpg

Ebay purcahse, special edition medalion released after the Pens Cup win.

cookesundinucnut.jpg

cookenaslunduncut.jpg

Also, from Ebay these slightly oversized pacific uncut proof's from the big pacific buy out when they closed up shop. Just wish I had a proper way to store them being odd shaped and all!

Local card store pickups:

cookeopc10base.jpg
cookeopcgold10.jpg

Cooke 09 OPC base and base rainbow.

cookeopc10retro.jpg
cookeopcretrorainbow.jpg

Retro and retro rainbow...

cookeopc10retro.jpg
cookeblankback.jpg

And the last piece to the puzzle, the retro blank back!

cookekingston.jpg

This is a funny odd ball item I got on ebay. Its from 1997 and was put out by some kind of local law enforcement in Kingston I believe.

couplesauthenticfabrics.jpg
couplescourseclasics.jpg

A new PC I have decided to start. Fred Couples! I'm going for gu and auto's only and if anyone has any, please let me know!

couplesauthenticfabrics.jpg

Given to me by a good friend at work!

couplessigshots.jpg

8X10 UD signature shots. Given to me by the same good work buddy for my birthday last month...

And some Canadian Olympian Gold!

thornton08cupnotable.jpg
thorntoncupnotable.jpg

thorntoncupscriptedswatches.jpg

Some various Jumbo Joe Thornton Cup singles. 2 /19 and the other /25. Got them in 2 diferent trades with Gary Quackenbush. Great trades Gary!

Now some random cool stuff!

sakicauto8x10.jpg

Odd thing here. I have a friend at work that grew up and played hockey with Sakic. The chased the same girls and stuff too. Turns out both of them liked the same girl in high school.. She married my friend Dave.... She never bugs him about the choice she COULD have made ;). Anyhow, my friend Dave still sees him from time to time and was nice enought to get me this 8X10 signed.

And something to hang on the wall with my other Cookie gamers. Now that we owna place, I have been designated a "Man room" for all my framed stuff and other memorabilia. Woot!!!

Cookekingstonfront.jpg

cookekingstonback.jpg

Got this off another gu site. Lucky for me, I got myself some good buddies here. I got a call one night from Jon (bebop) telling me about this. He was with Gordon (shabobala) who discovered it and I think Matt (chadsexington), probably palying scatagories, when the called me about it. Thanks dudes!!! It goes well with my Windsor and Nucks gamers :)

cookekingstonelbowwear.jpg

cookekingstonelbowwear2.jpg

Some nice rips and wear showing. Yes yes, i know the wear is all on the elbow. Spare me the wise cracks will ya ;).

cookekingston25thpatch.jpg

25th aniv. patch on the shoulder!

Now, good buddy Brett Miles (bamlinden) has been hard at work for me again! 4 more cuts to add to my PC!!

talbotcut.jpg
talbotcutback.jpg

Got the autos at an old timers game in the early 90's or late 80's I think. Bret made me this Talbot mastar piece out of it!

gilbertcut.jpg
gilbertcutback.jpg

Gilbert was tending the net that night too. I really like the design and colours here!

mrichardcut.jpg
hrichardcutback.jpg

The Rocket! Met him in person at the same game. He was the guest ref actually :). Love your work Brett!!!

and my favorite one. Not an auto.....

beetlescutstub.jpg
beetlescutstubback.jpg

This is a beetles ticket stub from a concert my mom wnet to in 1967 at the old Maple Leaf Gardnes in Toronto. This is my favorite lookign custom design of the lot. The work into this oen is awesome. Brett even found images of the original show poster to put on the back of the card as well as the actual set list they played! Again Brett, 1,000 thanks, these are awesome!

Fore!!!!

This January I took a trip with my wife and family to Maui. Unknown to me, there was a Champions tour Skins game tourny going on on the Kanapalli Royal course. We were staying at the resort and lo and behold, look who we ran into :):

Fuzzy!!!

DSCN3162.jpg

My all time favorite pro and new PC, Fred Couples!

and this old bear....

DSCN3172.jpg

Jack! I was almost shaking when I met him. What a nice guy. I swear, the old pros are just as inviting and friendly, if not more friendly than retired hockey players. All fo these guys had time to greet you and sign an auto.

pgaautos2.jpg

pgaautos1.jpg

The autos I was able to get in the program. Possibly a new project for you Brett :)!!!

Finally to end the post, one of the best experiences of my life. Living 30 mins out of Vancouver, I was able to spend about 6 or 7 days downtown to catch some events and partake in the festivities. Now, unless you were the British media, you had a absolute blast if you were there. I can't say enough good things about the games this year. Sure there were some glitches at the opening ceremonies as well as some unfortunate tragedy in the sliding center, but man wat a great games. Here are a couple pics:

DSCN3248.jpg

Me, my wife and some friends excited before the Sweden - Germany game...

DSCN3285.jpg

Curling action!

DSCN3320.jpg

Beautiful cauldron

DSCN3339.jpg

Norge!!! What a great game these guys had agains the Swis. They lost 5-4 in OT but it was one of the most exciting games I ever had the chance to go to. Heck, a guy named Tore Vikingstad (best last neme ever!!!) socred a hat trick too!

DSCN3356.jpg

Beautiful downtown weather was awesome for the crowds. I'll take sun and 5 or 6 degrees in the winter any day! Yes there were issues with snow on soem of the venuse, but what can you do. The interviewed atheletes seemed to thing the conditions were great all in all.

ShorttrackspeedskatersNinaEvteevaan.jpg

Russian speed skaters :)

DSCN3488.jpg

Real Fin fans! It was awesome to see the world travelers just loving it out here. What awesome digs so many people were wearing.

DSCN3444.jpg

My friend Jay and I were lucky to be able to attend the finals of the Mens freestyle aerials ski jumping. He actually works for the local media so his powers got us nice front section seats, right infront of the landing!

And what would an event like this be with out some kind of memorabilia?

My wife bought me this full sized, 1 piece carbon special edition stick form me for my 30th birthday which was durring the games. This one has got to find a space on the wall :). Love the artwork and colour schemes!

Thanks for the looks and the long read. Cheers

An impressive haul and photo display there Greg. Hopefully we'll see you at the Big One at the end of the month?

Indeed you will Chris! Just the morning on Saturday but all day on Sunday :). Gona get me a auto on my McLean gu stick and bust a couple boxes of BTP!

I'm pooped!

Awesome mailpost. Cool Olympic swag!

Glad to see the customs made it to you alright. I'm game for some golf cut autos. Nicklaus! Are you kidding me....that's pretty cool.

Great stuff.
Brett

You were at the Swiss/Norway game? Did you see Gordo, Jon and me? They put us on in the middle of the 3rd when it was tied and were looking for fans acting like chumps. They saw a brown guy holding Switzerland flags wearing a Suisse jersey and that was that ;)

Dude! Unfirtunatly I did not haha. I forgot you have that Suisse jersey hehe. What about Vikingstad though eh? Before they showed his wife in the stands, I actually saw her wearig a Vikingstad jersey and not knowing who she was, I was tempted to ask her about it. Lo and behold it was his wife lol. It was awesome how well he did and how they kept showing her and her family on the screen when he scored eh?

Gordon and I saw some people with Vikingstad jerseys outside GM Place and thought what a cool last name that was...we didn't know he was about to single handedly flambe the Swiss that day :p

Still, that game was ridiculous, and that, and the Slovakia game later in the week made me a huge fan of their goalie Pal Grotnes. Sure the guy gave up 23 goals in 4 games...but he more than made up with some of the craziest saves of the tournament.

Not really. You forget which side I was cheering for

Greg,

That's an amazing 4 months of mail and some awesome "real life" stuff - glad you had fun. Of course, mad props to Brett for some amazing customs, especially on the Beatles ticket.

Kevin

Very nice and nice golf signatures.
Drop me a line as I may have some items of interest so you don't have to cut that program up.

All through your post I was just thinking four words....

You LUCKY M@#$^^ F#@$ER. Man what a great post. Thanks for sharing.

Doug.

Awesome stuff Greg!! I just love the Cooke gamer and all the custom cards. Truley amazing cards Brett...well done.

Now for the bad news. Latley, there has been a rash of "fake" wooly mamoth femurs showing up on Ebay. They are replacing the actual femur bone with a common pork chop bone. They're really hard to pick out to the casual observer, but if your dog starts eating your card...you now know why. If he starts humping your leg, just give him the damn card back. Rumor has it, they are being faked by a guy in Toronto named Rennie. Sorry to break it to you bud, but somebody had to do it :)

Greg as always great stuff. I love the custom collection that you're building. Looks like your Olympic experience was pretty solid. Thanks for the show. Awesome Cooke gamer. Hope you enjoy your man room. After my brother got married he was bequeathed the basement now known as "The Man Cave", from what I understand every guys got to have one.
