So Marc Denis was sent back down today to the Hamilton Bulldogs which makes way for the return of Price. I am thinking he may get the start Tuesday vs Atlanta as Jaroslav Halak has played 8 straight and needs a rest.

Iam sure some of the fellow Price collectors are happy.

That's good news for the Habs!

I wonder why Denis didn't get any starts during Price's absence? To showcase Halak as much as possible?

Good. Halak hasn't been all that impressive having to shoulder the load and facing better teams even though he's won some games. He had me really nervous at times and let in some softies. He was NOT clutch and he didn't give the team much confidence. I still can't believe there are many on these boards that say Halak is a better goalie... pff ya, maybe when he played those 6 games last season against the Torontos, Atlantas and Los Angeles' of the NHL he put up better stats...

Can't wait to see Price again. I hear he's got some new red pads as well

Good to see Price come back but Halak is good and just needs some more time in the net to really show what he can do. Just like Josh Harding of the Minnesota Wild.

Halak Did just fine why rag on him, they seemed to play pretty well infront of him, that being said I bet Price got told if you plan on playing the Allstar game you better play this week

I didn't say he was bad, but he wasn't great either. He got the job done but didn't steal any games for us at all.

steal is a big word, Halak did make clutch saves, shut the door when he needed it to. Example the shootout against ottawa, price is a better goalie right now but if halak could work on his lateral movement and play angles a touch better he would be an amazing goalie.

that said montreal has a great 1-2 duo!!!

go habs go

well that game should never have gone to a shootout in the first place.

I'm just saying his performance as our #1 goalie in this short stretch of time wasn't nearly as good a performance from him when he was our #2 and just played every so often against weaker teams. I think the numbers prove that.

That said, I'm glad he's our backup. I'd argue that he is one of the best backups in the NHL right now.

To be honest, I'm more interested in seeing Price's new red pads! I hear he'll be sporting them for the ASG

I'll be glad to see Price back also. Halak did okay, but wasn't stellar. Price's absence has affected my hockey pool too. :)

It takes a longer time for some goalies to develop specially depending on the kind of treatment they get. Known to be a back up goalie playing behind the Jesus Price as some call him, it definitely came to halaks mind the fear of leaving montreal, a team who believed in him and drafted him. A lower self confidence would be a good exemple of a consequence. Halak was getting shutouts in the past and has shown us flashes of what he can do. Lots of Distractions such as rumors of him being traded can make u lose focus at some times. If we where to lose price for the rest of the season and carey didnt come back from his injury, i would bet that Halak would improve and become solid consistently by mid-end february because he's almost there!!! just 1 or 2 little improvements would help and that will only come with time. Its really tough to get on a roll if u play every once in a while which creates the inconsistency in his game today. Will he really get his chance? yes. Will he succeed? Most probably. Will it be with the Montreal Canadiens? Probably not as We already have price and is better then him.

And ill tell you what, during these past 14 games, we are 11-2-1 AND ON FIRE!
in lots of those wins, we allowed a lot of goals like 3-4 goals.. as a matter of fact, i think his G.A.A. about 3.00 or just under.. like 2.90something if i caluculated it correctly, but still went 8-2-0 which is a very good record if we forgot about his GAA... pricey could have possibly stole one of those 2 losses and would have allowed about 2 goals a game with probably a shutout or two. he has been consistent this year. and consistency is key and that comes with consistent play and not 3-4 starts every 25 games.

Cant wait for his return.

All hail the return of the saviour! LOL Sorry just taking the whole religion of the Montreal Canadiens thing to its natural destination for young Carey.

It's good to have him back. Halak has done an admirable job in Carey's absense, playing well enough for us to win far more often than we've lost.

Unfortunately, I haven't seen many Habs games this year. Out of curiosity, has Price fixed the hole in his glove from the EC semis?

All-new pads this year. :)

Out of curiousity, did Biron ever recover from crashing back to reality after that same EC semi-finals?
