Mike Fisher coming out of retirement, returning to Predators

Mike Fisher’s retirement lasted less than six months. The 37-year-old centre is returning to hockey and will rejoin the Nashville Predators, the team announced.

Fisher skated in Preds gear at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville Wednesday morning and aims to get back in game shape and sign a contract before the Feb. 26 trade deadline. Fisher said at a brief news conference following his skate that he’s “all in” and committed to the team but did confirmed his return is for this season only.

Maybe he just didn't feel like going through training camp and the bulk of the regular season and only wanted to join for a playoff run?

Hope for a smooth transition. Big news locally, very happy with the decision, beats bringing in someone that would need to learn the system, Mike should be a great fit. Only down side is who gets sent down & is at risk. Playoff push is going to be very interesting here.

Interesting news for sure! Great guy and he's been a good player for many years. Kind of surprising though that he'd be back now and only for the remainder of the season. Not sure of what kind of impact he'll have, and the Preds are pretty stacked so I'm not sure how that will effect the current lineup.

Good move. Sign him (I'm gonna presume) on the cheap, and not have to give up some assets for that locker room presence/bottom 6 spot.

He was good in last years playoff run and against Crosby in the finals. Not sure what type of impact he will have on the current Preds. Hopefully it goes well for them, I wouldn't mind seeing them raise the cup.
