Seems like a lot of money to me....

Mike Green has agreed to a three-year/$18.25 million contract extension with the Washington Capitals.
Green will make $6 million in each of the next two seasons and $6.25 million in 2014-15. The Capitals are certainly taking a risk here given that Green is coming off back-to-back injury-riddled, disappointing campaigns. That being said, when he's at his best, he's one of the most productive offensive defensemen in the league.

Like has been stated, when he's at the top of his game. He is well worth this out lay of cash and term. High risk, high reward, only time will tell!

$6 Mil seems to be the going rate for an offensively talented defenseman. Atleast its only a two year contract. Teams are signing their stars for 10 years lately just to get the contract in before the CBA kicks in.

I think you'll see his play pick up under Oates. I'd happily take him on my team for sure. Would you rather have lost him to a team like Philly and play against him? If he can remain healthy he'll be back to his old self in no time.

If he can remain healthy is the key. He played 32 games last season (and 49 the year before that)! He has been a walking band aid the last couple of seasons.
