I don't really like it when companies try to disguise an advertisement as a 'candid' or viral video. But with just days before we see some ice action this video on nhl quenched my pucklust.....for now.

http://www.nhl.com/ice/blogpost.htm?id=20238&navid=nhl:topheads

I wonder how many takes it took.... I find it more amazing that he didn't touch a single puck with his stick or his skates.

That video was crazy.

Doesn't matter how many times he tried. I could try a million times and wouldn't even come close.

Yes lets practice fancy stickhandling with your head down  First off let me say that I have nothing against Patty Kane and his abilities. BUT, that has got to be the dumbest thing he could be doing. You wonder why guys are getting hit/concussed more and more often? Its right there. DO NOT PRACTICE THINGS YOU WOULD NOT DO IN A REAL GAME. Again, nothing against Kane but that add is going to make other kids go out and practice that sort of stuff. Its dangerous. I am sorry if I come off a little uppity but man that bothers me. I have seen it happen first hand. A fancy stickhandler out on the ice doing some fancy *** little moves with his head down for a second and WHAMMO. Done. Hell, when I see that I want to catch him with his head down. Arg, sorry for the rant but that really grinds my gears (shameless Family Guy reference)

His hand skills are ridiculous - and he showed exactly how good he can be last year when he is truly focused and committed...which is scary.

Have to disagree with you FASTMAX - every kid in the world should spend all kinds of time on the ice, in their basement, garage, street handling pucks/balls around all kinds of objects - obviously you have to start with your head down but starting early will allow you to be able to do these things in traffic and at full speed.

You are right Timber. Every kid should spend as much time playing around as they can. I should clarify that I meant older, higher calibre players. Practice the hand eye coordination, just don't get into a habit of always looking down while you do it. You will do it in a game one time, out of habit, and its going to cost you.

Impressive. It's a skills video that probably took 20 takes. Watch Kovalev videos much more skill. kane is such a punk.

It wasn't practice. It was for a commercial. They just want to get the shot done correctly with the least amount of takes.

And Kovalev is super sick.

While I am impressed with this, Kovalev is saying "pffffftt".

Nobody. NOBODY could have done that with there head up. There's a huge difference between seeing ten players on an entire sheet of ice and knowing where 50 pucks are at your feet.

It's an advertisement, and a good one at that. Not sure why anyone would make such a fuss over it.

As for keeping your head up, I doubt anyone would expect to have 40 small objects to stick handle around on the ice in a real game. There's nothing wrong with doing this to improve your puck handling skills. It's like typing. You start by staring at the letters to see where they are. Once your brain is trained, you no longer need to look at the keyboard

He made some mistakes, like a lot of young people (especially athletes and entertainers). He apologized for his mistakes, he has matured, and he does a lot in the community. He even showed up to a kids birthday party, and it wasn't some rich kid or a friend of a friend, just a random fan that asked him to come. Yet, to some he is still a punk and always will be. They will criticize anything he does. So be it, there are a hell of a lot worse people in the world then Patrick Kane but haters keep on hating.
