Hey Everyone,

Sorry, I haven't posted in a while. For those of you who have been following me on Twitter have seen all of these cards. But, for those of who you don't follow me...what are you waiting for? @naimcardinal

We recently moved and the past few weeks we have been busy settling into our new place and then left for two weeks at the end of July for vacation. Anyway, finally got some time to make a post (I've been lurking) and share what I have been picking up!

I've been going around to a few card shops in the area as I had a hinkering for some older wax and really feel I missed out on the OPC Premier craze as a kid (since I didn't have my own job and was poor!) so I wanted to pick some up. Unfortunately, there was none to be found in town and while I was on vacation in Kelowna a couple weeks ago I was lucky enough to find some for $4.00/pack. The owner of the shop offered a full unopened box of 36 packs to me for $100 but, didn't think the wife would approve so I declined. After walking out of the shop she asked why I didn't even look at her or ask and maybe she would have said yes. Go figure!

These next three cards I grabbed off of eBay from a seller who I dealt with in the past and previously sold me different Cheechoo refractors from the set. I believe he was breaking up what he had because he had more players available. Anyway, these are really tough to come by and I was fortunate to find these all together.

After watching the Memorial Cup in May, it was brought to my attention that their Head Coach and former NHL/AHL fighter, Rocky Thompson, was part Indigenous. So I looked it up on a couple sites and there he was on the list-so I had to pick up his rookie card as part of the collection.

A couple of Jordin Tootoo rookie cards /99. I paid $10 each for these cards and I feel I stole them. Both of these are very under appreciated:

I wanted to pick this one up because you don't see them around too often. In fact, it's the only one I have seen since starting this collection.

Got these two from one of my other Twitter buddies who saw my collection and was very kind in grabbing these for me. He should be a good one for the Oilers!

I also got this card from the same Twitter buddy mentioned above.

I have been searching for the past few months for Brandon Montour YGs as I am hoping one day to own a rainbow and kept missing out on the cards. I was able to finally land the card below for a bit lower than what they were going for since their little run through the playoffs. I was very happy to finally get one! I am still in search for a Clear Cut, Acetate, Gold Rainbow (epack bs), and a HG. Although, there was a HG posted recently for quite a while I am not willing to pay $495.00 for a card of a guy who has only played a handful of NHL games. :dislike:

Okay, last of the hockey. I guess have become a bit of a Brandon Montour collector along the way.

I have also been dabbling in football lately (much to the dismay of my wife) and picked up a few things in the past couple months. These are not worth a lot in the Beckett guide but I think there's a lot of value in them and appreciate them so much. I have a Twitter buddy, Dub Mentality, who has a very cool blog about collecting and he has mostly been writing and opening junk wax and it motivated me to pick some things up (including the 1990-91 OPC Premier).

I am a huge Oregon Ducks fan, so naturally I have to pick up some rookie cards of the greatest Duck to ever lace em up! This one was a freebie from my buddy, Dub Mentality, on Twitter. Seriously, look up his blog...

Thanks everyone for taking the time to view and read about my cards. Have a great day!

Very nice pickups! Loving the sweet Bowman parallels you have there. And those other rookies are very nice, not to mention that sweet Rocky Thompson for your collection. It pays to watch hockey ! ;)

Naim

I've enjoyed your twitter journey as well. :)

Again what is not to like about a Boz RC. :cheer:

Thanks for sharing.

I love the Bowman parallels too. The Cheechoos are particularly hard to find!

Cool pick ups Naim! I like the Tootoo trains myself and agree they are undervalued and underappreciated. Anything specific you are looking for from that opc premier set? I love seeing the old school wax breaks. I recently busted some early 90's wax myself to help out another board member.

Thanks, Terry. No, not looking for anything in particular-just nostalgic feels.

Great to hear from you. I hope you are enjoying the summer and feeling refreshed for the new school year!

Great pickups! I think you killed it on the SPGU, Private Stock and SPA Limited's. I agree they are under appreciated.
