lots of canadians on this site.
How do you guys feel about nfl expansion/relocation to CA.? It seems a fair amount of canadians collect nfl. Kind of surprised, eh?

have some connection to Canada, wife born in PEI.

Personally I'd love to have real football up here but it is NEVER going to happen. The NFL uses exhibition games to help their tv viewing but I don't believe there is any real interest or intention of locating here.

I think feelings are mixed. There are lots of huge NFL fans who love the idea, but I think there are also a lot of folks outside hogtown who don't want it to happen because it would kill the cfl everywhere, not just in the golden horseshoe. Personally I love NFL, but I don't really want an NFL team here unless there is a deal in place which keeps the cfl protected.

i dont want it, it probably be good the first year, but the sales wont be as good as if the team was back where they were after the first year, one thing i would never watch it, only NFL i watch is superbowl.

didn't we try this already, once before?
i know we definitely tried to expand the CFL to the states and that failed.

The CFL in the States compared to the NFL coming to Toronto are two TOTALLY different things. Those of you who say it wouldn't fly are off your rockers! I for one would LOVE to have an NFL team in Canada. I'd be prepared to buy season tickets and drive 5 hours 8 times a year on Sundays :)

This coming from the store with the largest CFL inventory in the country... :p Does this mean I'll have to get my CFL sets somewhere else? ;)

Toronto Bills

That's a possibility, Vancouver rays/marlins ? They're a joke in FL, good teams too.

Not interested, myself. I am a CFL fan and NFL fan, and I would like the status quo to remain. Mind you, I live in Saskatchewan, where the CFL is actually the number one professional league and always will be, so I undertsand why some in TO or Vancouver would think otherwise.

The NFL has already stated that they will not be doing any more expansion teams for quite some time. The only way Canada would get a team is through relocation. But I would not hold my breathe while the city of Los Angeles (my home town) is still without a team...

I love the NFL. I am pretty lucky in living in a border city and able to catch the Detroit Lions play. The NFL is probably the ONLY major sport that will not cost you an arm and a leg for SEASON TICKETS.

Actually Windsor played a huge part as a somewhat co-host to the superbowl that was held in Detroit. Every hotel , bar restaurant in the downtown area was packed.
I hope to see the Detroit Lions win a superbowl title in my lifetime. If you think the wings and pistons can throw a party for a championship team. Wait to see what a lions superbowl championship will do for the city.

I think the NFL might think twice before putting another team in LA. I know they have. The Raiders didn't last there either. The weird thing about LA is you have the second largest tv market in the US there, and yet they can't hold an NFL team? Given the popularity of football in the US, this has kind of puzzled me. I mean you do have three NFL teams in other Californian cities. How is it that an NHL team - i.e. the Kings can survive there as long as they have, and yet a NFL team cannot? Your opinion would be interesting here.

But as to the topic: I think the only way an NFL team goes to Canada is via relocation. I.E. the Bills to TO. And I believe Toronto is the ONLY Canadian city capable of handling or adequately supporting an NFL team.
