NHLPA announces Rookie Showcase photo session for 2011-12 RCs

The National Hockey League Players’ Association has announced that 27 rookie prospects will take part in this year’s NHLPA Rookie Showcase on Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2011. The event provides NHL-NHLPA trading card manufacturers Panini America and Upper Deck Company with an all-in-one photo session to capture potential rookies for the 2011-12 hockey card season. All 27 rookies will be wearing their respective NHL uniforms.

While Panini America and Upper Deck Company will have the opportunity to capture all 27 rookies on the day, there is no guarantee that the companies will get to use the photography on their licensed trading cards. Each prospect still has to make his NHL debut before the NHLPA can give the green light for Panini America and the Upper Deck Company to produce cards of that rookie.

This year’s NHLPA Rookie Showcase will feature the top six picks from the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, including first-overall pick Ryan Nugent-Hopkins.

Nugent-Hopkins will be big, but Klingberg could be one of the earliest Winnipeg Jets uniforms to be released in packs.. That will be a big seller for sure.

If I were you Dr Price I would go there and hand each player a thick unmarked manila envelope. I wonder how long it would take the PA to rip them out of the players hands. I would also like to see their reaction to finding nothing in the envelopes.
