The Edmonton Oilers won in Boston last night. It's their first win there since November 7, 1996.

Oh, and they are in a playoff spot right now (even though they have played one more game than Arizona). This is the latest they have been in a playoff spot since March of 2009.

The Buffalo Sabres won in regulation at Detroit last night. That's their first regulation win there since March of 1994.

I've always loved those type of stats.

Please don't bring up the Wings loss - gives me heartburn all over again!

I do not think there is a worse team in the league (at this point) in protecting a lead with 5 minutes or less in the 3rd period. I also believe that Buffalo is on the right track - they played hard and never quit last night. They had legs after 55 minutes of play - and they had chances to make it 3 or 4 goals in a 3 minute span.

The Wings on the other hand - play the equivalent of a football prevent defense - and give up goals constantly in the last couple of minutes of the game.Sure there point totals and standings look good - but it is a facade of a team that cannot close the door.

Oilers are becoming fun to watch again.

No idea if they'll be able to keep this up (or get better, when McDavid returns?) but they've won six in a row.... and like you just said: In a playoff spot later in the season than anytime since 2009.

I don't know if they'll make it this year, but I'm optimistic for the first time in a long time.

Bruce - try being a Canucklehead...

I swear, whenever the Canucks are leading going into the third period, I feel like signing into Lotto and doing the real time bet that the other team wins.

The Red Wings are 6-5 in overtime. The Canucks are 0-7. So, even when they do manage to not totally blow the lead in regulation, they mange to suck in OT.

:)

I am a Knucklehead:crazy::crazy:

While you look at this statistic: The Red Wings are 6-5 in overtime.

You do not see that in 9 of those games they had the lead with 5 minutes to go.
That is a problem!
