As posted on their blog they showed some of the upcoming Private signings. Now its cool that the set is a contination type set and that they've put players in all the teams they've played for (Joe Sakic in Av's and Nord's jerseys) however this is a little much!!

I swear if panini was a dog I'd come after them with a rolled up newpaper and say "NO" as I smack them on the head

Something a little different....I am not one for Panini...for many of the previous stated reasons..........(in countless other threads)....

However...its something to chase, a different take on parallel...type deally........better than a different colour scheme on the outside IMO....

I like it.

Unless it's once again a cross brand set and they put them in 3 different sets. Is anyone going to complain pulling one in Pinnacle, one in Certified, and one in another product later in the year?

then if they are going to do that, they better make sure that the products have the same price point because if you pulled one in pinnacle, then one in luxury suite and then one in domion. they'll probably still all go for about the same price which could be a bit of a let down if someone isnt aware there is 3 different versions

Yes, yes I would. At least when Upper Deck inserts a running set into different products they keep the cards unique, like with Ice being in SPX and Black Diamond. What if they had Hall, Seguin, Subban, Schenn, Kadri /99 RC's in one and placed another /99 of the exact same players in a different pose in another? It woud kill the value of the cards and I bet most serious ICE RC collectors would do a 180 if that happened. What set collector is going to want to have buy 3 RNH autos and who knows how many other duplicates to complete the set? Without any serial numbering who knows how many are going to end up flooding the market, how would do even differentiate the cards as a seller?

"Ryan Nugent Hopkins Private Signing Serious Face version"
"Ryan Nugent Hopkins Private Signing Smiley Face version"
"Ryan Nugent Hopkins Private Signing Stick Weight Lifting Pose"

It's a nice enough looking subset, sometimes keeping it simple is the best and most amiable option.

As someone else mentioned, it's a different take on a parallel instead of just switching the colour scheme around.

As long as they come out of different brands then I don't mind it.

I would hope that by the third or fourth release there are game action shots of these guys and not just studio shots which these are.
I don't mind the across different brand subsets, I think it's a neat idea. But it would be better if by the end release's they where game action.

Upper Deck is guilty of that too - in the 2009-10 OPC Premier Signings set, there are three different Crosby autos, and I'm still looking for one of them to complete the set . . .

So what? Seriously. If you were building an autograph set of any kind, would you really want 4-5 Stamkos auto cards of him standing in different poses? I doubt it

I understand what you mean, 1 set and only 1 player has multiple copies of a card in the set, but if the 3 cards area released throughout a year, I don't think there is a big issue.

Player collectors do that every year with Artifacts and Certified...25 different colors, with a jersey, with a patch, with an auto...

Set collectors have dealt with it as well. Home and Away SPx jerseys, Hobby and Retail YG's, OPC Premier autos, etc...

I never realized there was Hobby and Retail Young Guns. Do they do this every year? How do you tell the difference?
