Pens did not extend a qualifying offer to Michel Ouellet.

He is 25 years old, scored 19 goals and added 48 pts and doesn't seem to have any lingering injury concerns. Plus he's very cheap.

I don't really understand this move? Anyone want to shed light on it? Could be a good cheap option on the wing for a lot of teams.

This seems completely wacked! This does not make any sense to me unless it was just a matter of room on the roster and money to sign someone better. Still you think there could of been better cuts than this guy. Hope the Isles pick him up, he's a good one.

Brutal!

He has had two solid seasons with the team and has a tonne of upside. He scored those points without even playing with Crosby and with limited time on the PP. What a mistake. I don't understand the logic behind this.

I guess my collection of him will stop after this year :(

I finally found the true reason Ouellet wasn't resigned....

Penguins happy to get Esposito

That No. 7 Esposito wore in juniors may be available to Esposito sooner than later. Forward Michel Ouellet wore it last season, but the Penguins didn't tender him a contract offer.

Gary Roberts was No. 7 with Toronto, but wore No. 10 the last few seasons with Florida and Pittsburgh - something Esposito didn't realize.

"Maybe I'll get that number some day," he said.
