For those of you who like to collect RC of your favorite players and/or team, I am curious how you approach the players whose RC are not featured with an NHL team - before it was enforced that the player must have appeared in an NHL game. Many of them are pictured in WJC jerseys or their junior jerseys.

I'm wondering how others approach this because I'm struggling with the concept of NHL rookie cards of non-NHL players (at the time). Do you stick with the official "RC" tag or do you collect the first cards of the player featured in an NHL jersey?

I grab both.

Selanne's only RC is 91-92 Upper Deck in a Finnish jersey. So I have several of those plus several other first year cards.

Another spin is Paul MacLean's RC which is 82-83 OPC but pictures someone else. So to me, his 83-84 is the "RC" I covet/display.

I have severals RC in my teams PC that are feature in their national team uniform. On the top of my head, in my Nordiques PC:
Adam Deadmarsh
In my Habs PC:
Saku Koivu, José Théodore and Andreï Markov.

I even have players pictured in their Junior hockey team uniform in my teams PC. Classic, for one, issued a lot of Jocelyn Thibault, Chris Simon and Adam Deadmarsh stuff in the 90's. Same thing goes with the Habs as I have some Desharnais, Price, Pacioretty, Subban, Pyatt and White cards from ITG in my PC.

I display them with all my others cards. But in the Habs case, once the player is traded (like Ben Maxwell, recently), all the non-team-jersey stuff goes in the trade bin.
