If I ever had any doubts that my boycott of Upper Deck wasn't justified, today's redemption mail day confirmed it.

Almost forgot about these- sent in 3 Tom Cavanaugh black auto lettermen rookies. Got an email last night about them being -on the way- and looked in the mail today and there was the envelope from Otter Place.... yeah!!

Opened the sucker up- funny, there are 3 redemptions but only 2 cards... hmmm, these aren't my Black lettermen????
Here's what I got, SPX Alex Pietrangelo and Jakub Voracek???

Let me get this straight. 3 cards #ed /399 and in return get 2 #ed /999

HELL OF A DEAL UD, you guys are the bomb!!!!!!!

SPX are some of the worst looking cards they have ever put out. Feels great getting ripped off and SPX being my reward....

Even better, just looked up some completed listings on the Bay for these 2... you can get them for under $10 for the pair..... WHOOOHOOOOOO!!!!

BIG VALUE IN UPPER DECK PRODUCT!!

Nice ripoff...

3 cards from what amounts to a $90/pack product for 2 cards that can be pulled from a $7/pack product.

And you're supposed to smile and say thank you and be grateful that you got SOMETHING.

And yeah, it's Tom Cavanaugh... but come on.

My last redemption replacements were football cards. I emailed Upper Deck and said "Who the heck are these guys!?" I told them I only collect hockey but they didn't care.

I'd contact them (but it won't help) 2 cards out of /999 for 3 redeemed at /399? That's just wrong!

I just recently requested a replacement for my Cavanaugh Letterman from Black. Mine was an 07/08 SP Authentic Jarome Iginla Sign of the Times auto. I was happy with that.

Not sure what peoples expectations are anymore - you got $80 BV for $60 BV in redemptions. If you wanna talk sales value the Cavanaughs have been sold from $3-5 each on average (I got $3.98 for mine), the Voracek averages from $7-15 and Pietrangelo averages $5-8.

Pack price has nothing to do with replacement value.

So the book value for the 2 I got is $80 and they sell for $12

GREAT VALUE THERE!!! WHOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!

I wonder whats worse.... the crap Upper Deck puts out or the idiots who value it so high at Beckett?

And the BV for what was replaced is $60 and sells for around a 10 spot or less, Crap for crap trade off, like it or not.

OK- all UD is crap like you say but I get these 2 crap cards for the 3 I sent in.

Option 1- send me 3 Black auto rookies.
Option 2- send me 3 auto rookies /399 or close to it.
Option 3- send me 3 cards from the Black product....

Option 197- send 2 crap SPX cards.

Were the SPX cards multicolor. They did technically send you 2 better rookies.

Option 1, 2, and 3 are all asking for something worth more than what you redeemed- Cavanaugh is pretty much bottom of the barrel common whether you like it or not (his last BAP RC /99 drew a whopping $1.33). Good thought but unrealistic expectations. Live by the redemption, die by the redemption. There's no extra compensation for sentimentality. If that's the issue then waiting for redeemed cards to hit the market would be a better option to pursue rather than take the chance.

What I'm pissed at is I collected the LETTERMEN not the SPX.

It's not about value but there are some who can't fathom that.

It's like if you buy a car and the rims you ordered for it don't show.... 6 months later you get more expensive rims, no the ones you ordered, that don't fit your car and are told they are a decent replacement.......

COMPLETE UPPER DECK BS..... thus I don't buy their crap products anymore.
As a matter of fact, these 2 replacements are being fired into the trash as I type. Garbage belongs in the garbage.

So explain the other poster getting an Iggy auto for his??????

Don't thin I'm unrealistic thinking the crap I got wasn't suitable unless your a beckett thumper and think that BV is the best way to gauge value!

Options 1,2, and 3, should be the only options. Market value doesn't mean jack to UD, especially in a Manufactured Patch situation. He should get Black Product.

Yeah, I know what their site says, and it's^%$#.

Here is an amazing theory that other companies have used before, and still use today.

You buy a pack. You open it. You get what's inside. Amazing. UD needs to sign up for this program. Don't commit to putting products you don't have into your products. There is a rule here on H.I.; No trading incoming cards.

Not only does UD sell "incoming cards", they sell "never coming cards".

Whether it is Cavanaugh or Crosby, You should at the very least get the product you purchased.

OK THEN, one person gets it!! My point to a T!!!!

If you send in BLACK why send SPX back???? It's not about value but the collecting aspect.

I'd have to agree with Shaun on the above..

FYI, I've moved this into Hobby Talk. Cause IMO this is better suited there. Or is it here already? ;)
